160MHz in US?
« on: April 18, 2021, 03:02:58 PM »

Has anyone figured out how to set 160MHz bandwidth on 5GHz in North America?

I saw a firmware update last year said "Added 160MHz support for AU, SG, TH country code."

The datasheet says "1024 QAM and 160 MHz contiguous channel
width for turbocharged speeds up to 2.3 times
faster than 11ac Mbps, over larger areas"

Why is this disabled for North America and is there a method to enable 160MHz or to manually change the country code?

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

There maybe a setting with in the Wireless settings page?
Can you disable Smart Connect?

I don't see anything in the release notes about 160Mhz:
"Firmware: FW v1.10
Hardware: Rev. Ax
Enhancements:
• Support D-Link Easy Mesh.
• Support New Parental Control to replace original website filter function.
• Support Extender Mode.
Problem Resolved:
• Change default wireless security to WPA2-persional
• [DGC20210208000003] DIR-X5460 cannot watch MOD TV channels under PPPoE type
• [DUSA20210113000004] Customer gets a weak security message when connecting to the Guest network
• [DUSA20210217000003] Customer is creating a schedule for Wi-Fi, and it doesn't work.
• [DUSA20210114000001] Unable to connect IOS device to VPN with his DIR-X5460 router.
• [DGC20201130000002] IPV6 disconnected issue
• [DI20201231000002] ISP compatibly issue on IPTV and IPv6.
Note:
• Suggest reset device after upgrade to v1.10 version because of new function support.
• The Website Filter rule will be removed after upgrade to v1.10.

DIR-X5460 HW:A1 FW:1.10
I don't know how to see what region the router thinks it's in but I'm located in Colorado, USA.
Smart Connect is disabled and in the advanced settings for 5GHz it only gives me 3 options for channel width:
*Auto 20/40/80MHz
*Auto 20/40MHz
*20MHz

The 160MHz was added to those regions last year in 1.03:
DIR-X5460 A1 Firmware Release Notes
Firmware: 1.03B01
Hardware: A1
Date: 2020/7/20
Note:
Problems Resolved:
Enhancements:
1. Added 160MHz support for AU, SG, TH country code.
Known Issues:
1. WPS 2.4G and 5G LED blinking frequency is not stable, sometimes fast sometimes slow
2. UPnP port opened and some old cameras can't be viewed from PC via UPnP.
3. Schedule rule is unable to be saved when setting too many blocks.
4. Android Quick VPN failed.
5. Router may reboot occasionally with heavy traffic running on wired and 2.4GHz simultaneously.

I guess it's not available here in the USA. Something to contact D-Link support about and ask them what the status is.

I contacted D-Link support and here is the simple answer to get 160MHz working:
Enable DFS and 160MHz will appear in the channel width options!
