Title: Constant Aggrivation - Never works.
Post by: cbaksa on September 01, 2016, 07:18:10 AM
I bought this camera 2 months ago and it it a piece of junk.  I'm now out of my return window and stuck with it.
It never works.  Every time I want to access it, I get "Sorry, we are unable to connect to your camera..."  The only fix is a manual power reset (yank the plug and reboot).  Totally useless.

My wi-fi is enterprise class.  Its rock solid.
Any suggestions other than tossing it in the river?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
How many other wireless devices do you have connected to the main host router?

I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.95  DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0)

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62395.0)

Firmware 1.09
Hardware A1
IP is DHCP with a static reservation

Router is Sophos SG-125 (UTM 9.4)
Access Point is Sophos AP55
Connected wireless @ 2.4 GHz (WPA2 Personal - AES Encryption)
Device is 20 feet from the AP with no obstructions
There is a 6.0 GHz phone in the house - Nothing else.

I had to reset it again last night.
It didn't do this at first.  Its only been within the last few weeks.

From my experience....  It is probably a faulty unit and you will be best to head down the warranty replacement route...

What happens if you try loading v1.08 on the camera?

The 1.08 firmware seems to be stable.
I have not had to reboot since downgrading.

Back to square one.
Guess I'm calling support for a RMA.

Follow up.

After months of battling with this camera, I have finally determined that the problem is not the camera.
Its the App and the Infrastructure that goes with it.

I have configured my router not block anything from the camera... All firewalls rules are excluded.  Its wide open.
The app still "Sometimes" connects.. but mostly it does not.

I then install a free Android IP Camera App.  TinyCam Monitor is the app name.
It works flawlessly.  Its connects every time.
I added a layer of security by locking it down behind the firewall.  Now when I want to access it... I just connect via VPN 1st to my home.
one more step but now the camera is in my control and D-Link is hands off.

Here I thought the camera was locking up and it was not the camera.

Still hot happy with D-link products.  Will not be buying another one of these.

Did you get any help and information from D-Link support regarding this camera and mydlink.com?
What cell service do you use with your Android?
Seems like if a 3rd party app is working with this camera and and OEM isn't, maybe issue with there services.
Which app are you using with this camera, mydlink lite?

D-Link has other apps like JustConnect+, D-View Cam and D-Link Camera mobile apps however I'm not sure if these work for Android.

Has nothing to do with the cell service.
The App doesn't even work properly when on Wi-Fi.  Cell service isn't even in the picture yet.

Using MYDLINK Home app

I shouldn't have to fight to get the app to work.  I am a Nest Beta tester.  The app works on the same exact principal.
DLink will not talk to me.  My camera is out of warranty.

I'll stick with Axis cameras.

Is there MyDLink Lite app for Android? That app works for me. Might try it. I have never used the Home app.
