Title: 50% Problem Rate!
Post by: walkjp1 on March 17, 2015, 01:32:57 AM
I have been through 4 of these now and have experienced a 50% problem rate. The first one I had kept disconnecting from any of the web based viewing apps every day. I could not see it anywhere except for the computer that was on the same network as it. I wood have to keep disconnecting the power to reboot it so I could see it again. I contacted Dlink support and their solution was to replace it. BUT, apparently there was a firmware update available that might have fixed the problem. Dlink reps did not say anything about an update that was available for it. And when I went to the support page- http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DCS-6010L, it still does not show the firmware update. However if you go to a different support page- https://www.mydlink.com/download, it shows at least 2 new firmwares. If I had been told this I might have been spared the expense of shipping this back to Dlink from overseas.
Now I have another one of these cameras with similar problems but worse. Green tint to the picture, and requires occasional rebooting because it just quits. But I am afraid to apply the new firmware because of so many complaints. One day I will have to take my blood pressure medication and try it.
I do have 2 of these cameras that seem to be fine.

Update May 2015- After spending more time with these cameras I have decided they are just JUNK. That is not to say all d-link products are junk. I have other camera models that work fine. (Am not impressed with their ac routers either) The only way to keep these cameras working more than 3 days, is to cycle the power off then back on again. Even with the firmware update that enables scheduled reboots, they just quit taking pictures or sending emails after a couple of days. Sometimes I can log into the camera, but mostly not. Maybe they would work wired only? If you read camera forums you will find many users with same problems. D-link has really hurt their reputation with this camera.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

I have already been through this and they replaced one of the cameras. So what, same problems and it cost more than the cameras are worth to return them from overseas. To many people are experiencing the same problems. D-link needs to come up with a better solution.

Do you have every conceivable option setup?
Like recording to sd card, ftp images and video clips, downloading video from sd card,  recording to HD, etc.

Have you tried just 1 thing at a time?

I can overload my dcs2230 by doing to much at once. .. usually will crash and reboot.

Just wondering.

Also what brand of router? Do you have your ip fixed to the camera?

It may not be wise to have or use cameras from other regions or cross region use them. Each region with in D-Link handles there own specific products and support and cross region use and support is not supported by D-Link. Technically units should work however there maybe some features and operations that maybe incompatible if a unit is brought to a different region.

What region were the camera(s) purchased at and what region do they reside in now?  ???

What difference should it make as to region. All the cameras and routers (D-Link),  were purchased in USA. The firmware comes from USA site. There is nothing near the area of the cameras to interfere with them . I have tried Fixed IP. And all I have set upis record to SD card, and email pictures.
Conclusion.  Cameras must be disconected from power source at least once every 24 hours. Even then, having trouble with latest firmwares.
Fix - Keep original firmware (DO NOT UPDATE} Put cameras on a light switch or timer to disconect power every 24 hours.

FW does not all come from D-Link USA. Each region with in D-Link handles there own specific products and support and cross region use and support is not supported by D-Link.

I do not think you are understanding me.  The cameras are purchased in the USA. The firmware is from the USA site. The support I call is D-Link USA business support line.  Every thing is USA.  And there solution to fix the problem is to send the Cameras back to the USA. I already did this with 1 camera. More expense than the camera is worth, considering I`m still having problems.

The site is on a USA site rather a common cloud based site for the camera FW. I suppose that the FW isn't restricted by region for these cameras.

You may want to try 1.12 and see if it resolves your problems, if not, you may need to contact D-Link on the phone and ask them about help and information.
