Title: end user Wifi card replacement or upgrade
Post by: Drjizzocyst on March 05, 2011, 06:53:54 PM
dlink no longer supports this device, shame, i have opened my up a few times, and add some personal touchups, add a heatsink on the chips, figured it would not hurt it, might actually keep it from locking up.
now the wifi card i ahve took out and switch it with a laptop a few times, it was pretty basic wifi g card rantek, which is linux supported like plug in plag in Ubuntu. I am curious has anyone tried and updated wireless card inside the dsm-520, be nice to upgrade or a b g n for my dsm-520 or an dsm-720 card?

I have always wondered this myself but haven't tried it.  I'm thinking that it will be like changing a wi-fi card in a PC.  Unless you have the same brand and model it is not going to work as the drivers are not installed.  I'm guessing that it would also apply to the D-Link.  However,  I look forward to hearing your experience if you give it a try.
