Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41537.0)

What Hardware version is your DAP?
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on DAPs web page under status.
What region are you located?

Links>Wireless Installation Considerations (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) and Managing Signal Congestion (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53228.0)
Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers.
What wireless modes are you using on the DSL modem?
2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
Try turning OFF WiFi security on the DSL modem temporarily...Does the DAP connect then?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?

Hello,

If my experience with DAP-1320 range extender can help other person, i will share my latest experience.

I bought a Dlink router DIR-615 few years ago and last week, I bought this range extender to increase the signal in the upper floor. First of all, I was not able to link both devices with the WPS function. :(  So... I used the GUI of the DAP-1320 to create a link. It works ......  But !!

I started to get signal loss for unknown reason. So, back to work on what is going on. I have tried many procedures and modifications on both devices and.... still random signal drop :(

*** The firmware on both devices were updated last week and those updates didn't repair the problem. ***

After all those bad experiences, I read many posts on differents forums and Amazon.com to realize the main problem was targeted to the 802.11 N protocol. So, I changed the protocol of the router to "ONLY 802.11 G" .

Since this simple manipulation, no more signal loss (dropout) :)

Taking no chance, I have used 2 wifi tools analyser ( Inssider and wifi analyzer from Android) to observe the way the signal was broadcast and  I have set(force)  the router to channel 1 because the neighbors were all on channel 11.

Hope my post will help other  ;D

Did you happen to try using single mode N, WPA2 and AES only on the 615 then try to connect the DAP?
What bandwidth did you use? Try 20Mhz only with Single mode N on the 615?
What is the distance between the DAP and 615?
Did you try manually setting a different channel, 1 or 6?

In case this helps, I was only able to link to my Linksys E2000 after I set the mode to Wireless N only.  It would not successfully link when I was using Mixed mode.  Once I changed, it worked immediately!   ;D

I don't have this router anymore because I try to flash it with DD-WRT and I brick the router instead :(
