Don't know if it's the FW upgrade, but this 2530L camera will:

1.  NOT work with Security Spy

2.  NOT work with the extended version of Firefox, while this Firefox works with all my other dlink cameras.

What is Security Spy?

What is not working with FF ESR and the 2530L?

FF ESR does not show the live video with the 2530L, but does show live video with the 2630L

Might Contact the mfr of that SW and see if they have any information on this.

Did you clear all browser caches, close FF, then reopen then attempt to look at video on the 2530?

Does video appear in IE11 or Safari for Mac?

1.  Done.  Waiting for answers from both Security Spy and uLink
2.  Yes
3.  No IE for Mac.  Abandoned and not supported years ago.  Think this problem may have been solved.  Need to work on this difference further.  With the 2530L a message appears briefly "The downloaded file is not a DIVX file".  That message never occurs with the 2630L.  Strange.

I just bought camera.  Was setting up  -  got to connect to pc and mobile app. Downloaded firmware, said I successfully uploaded it. Then try to continue with setup - red power light is now solid red and no rebooting of camera, or resetting network or reset of unit will get red light to go out. Please help it's just a brick at this point

I haven't tried this with the 2530L but works with most cameras:

1. Turn off the camera (remove the power cord)
2. Press and hold the reset button then
3. Plug the power cord into the device while holding down the reset button for 10 seconds
4. The camera will boot and therefore the web interface for emergency recovery will default to IP 192.168.0.20
5. Connect the camera to your router using WPS. Once connected you need to log into your router to get the IP address of the camera.
6. Open your browser and type the IP address of your camera. The recovery screen should appear. Select the firmware for your device and proceed with uploading
7. Wait until end of upload procedure and then restart the camera that can take up to 5 minutes depending on the model

If you still get the solid red LED, contact support for an RMA or return to where you bought it for exchange.

Point 1,2,3 is correct
4) is to have the lastest firmware rename as update.bin in a folder named upgrade in a sdcard in the camera
5) wait for like 5mins, the firmware will reinstall eventually and the light will turn green (thank god...)
Reconnecting the camera to the app is also problematic...

My suggestion just call dlink hotline. It's 24/7 and they actually have solutions. Trust me.. I got mine to work..

All in all the app is buggy the firmware is buggy... hopefully onces it's set up you don't have to touch it anymore and it works...

Thanks for the feed back.

You can also install FW via WiFi as long as the camera has a good solid wifi connection. I recommend placing the camera at about 6 feet in directly line of site while using this method.

I would do a factory reset and set up from scratch.

What Mfr and model# router do you have the camera connected to>?

What do you mean by buggy? What problems are you noticing?

DCS-2530L ver 1.02 hardware A California US. Comcast/Xfinity Arris Touchstone modem/router.
On my 2530 I've noticed some bugs or issues that have persisted from ver 1.00 and ver 1.01 and now ver 1.02 .

1. The selected active motion area, using current mydlink lite app, will randomly change after applying and exiting or closing mydlink lite (tried on LGMS550 6.0.1 also 7.0, and LGMS345 5.1.1 android phones.)

2. The motion detection grid (when accessed from setup through IP address) randomly disappears or changes when clicking on grid squares, and may change after saving setting and loging out. (Tried on LGMS550 7.0, firefox browser and chrome browser, Linux mint 18.1, firefox browser, xp  sp3, firefox and internet explorer browsers.)

3. Sometimes the motion detection percentage or sensitivity will not hold to the lever set, and will revert back to previous level after applying or saving (my dlink lite and browser IP address)
4. Sometimes the 2530 camera will not detect motion at all (randomly), even with sensitivity set at 100, (when it does not detect motion it does not log motion, does not send push notification, does not record to sd card, does not send alert to email server) (example, I can be walking and waving my hands directly in front of it and nothing happens.)  (when it actually does see the motion, it works good and sends it to everything perfectly.)

5. Sometimes but not very often, the 2530 detects motion (randomly) when there is not any motion, even with sensitivity set at 0.

6. It has difficulties using IPv6, had to disable in network setup on IP address (very good to have the option). (By difficulties, it would connect once using IPv6, but not again, would not stream, or anything, I tried resetting the router and camera and having the camera within 6 feet of the router, same results. Once I disabled IPv6 it seemed to work ok on standard IPv4, does lose connection once in a while.)

I've tried the standard things of changing ports, reloading the 1.02 firmware, resetting the camera, resetting the router. I don't know if anyone else has observed these issues also.
.
.
Some of the really good features of DCS-2530, that need to be dulplicated or added to DCS-2630 ( 2 6 3 0 ) and maybe other cameras also,
Option to disable Ipv6,
WDR level, I really like this new feature, really helps with bright and dark areas of video contrast.
IRC and IR Light controls under advanced on Ip address, awesome to have the camera lense filter in IR night mode and the IR lights turned off.

Thats all for the momment.

I did a bit more research into my router, its actually an Arris Touchstone TG862G (probably the ct version, ct is not listed anywhere though), and not a surfboard.

Yes that's a cable modem router combo unit.

Any chance you could connect up a external router, i.e. D-Link, NetGear or something else besides using the ISP modem? ISP router combos are not the greatest in wireless and reliability. Can you test with a external router connected? Barrow something or check out a local store with a good refund policy? Best Buy and Frys have good return policies. It maybe not solve all problems, however would be good to see if anything changes. I have passed this onto D-Link for review.
