Title: problem connecting between 2 DAP-1320
Post by: TheBillis on September 03, 2013, 02:20:46 AM
I have setup 2 x DAP 1320. One is connecting to the router directly and the 2nd on is connected to the previous thus expanding the wifi range. The problem is that the second one can no longer connect to the first DAP after working for like one day. The signal it gets varies from 10%-18% which should be sufficient as the first one which is connected to the router has the same reception and is working fine. Passwords and security are correct. i have set them up even hard reset them both and reconfigured them and still the second one does not connect to the first. Also switched the 2 expanders to see if it was a problem with the hardware but it could connect directly to the router. any ideas why this is happening? i mean if it was the signal why did it work for a day and then it could not?

What are the distances between the main host router and DAPs?

Hi thanks for the reply
HW: v1 FW: 1.00
Eu region

there is a cordless phone right next to it i think that could be the problem ...? will try to disconnect the phone and see what it happens

also cant change the channels of the DAP no option to do that seems it duplicates the routers channel
in addition the other routers on the area use channel 11 whereas the local router is on channel 6 manually
and tried to change channel and mode but still no good am afraid.
as for security tried wpa2 and wpa only with auto on tpik and aes

router is on first floor other 2 expanders are below
the first expader is directly below so id say around 10 m
the other one is at 15m but with another wall between that why i need to take the signal from the first DAP

Yes, in Repeater mode, the DAP will use what ever the Main Host router is using. SO you need to set the main host router appropriately.

the first expader is directly below so id say around 10 m
the other one is at 15m but with another wall between that why i need to take the signal from the first DAP

Is the 2nd DAP connecting to the main host router or the 1st DAP?

Can you test the 2nd DAP with it connected to the host router? Does it provide a connection with devices with out DAP 1 being online?

Can you test both DAP in a wired AP configuration to see if they all work with the main host router using different channels for each? Router and DAPs?

Just wondering if the AP mode works, maybe there could be a problem with Repeater mode...

I have tested it connected to the router it works fine as for the wired connection it does not have that option its only repeater

I'm going to recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and inquire for some more help on this. Could be a faulty unit or a mis-configuration.

Keep us posted.
