DCS-2132L Mounting? Rectangular holes in base top?
« on: April 26, 2013, 10:34:00 AM »

Just got camera in.

The base nicely unscrews and separates, so it should be easy to see where to line up the screws to mount it.

There are two rectangular holes in the top of the base (once unscrewed) - they don't go through the entire base.

What's up with them? Orientation marks? FoV delineators? Decoration?

Even if they were orientation marks, it doesn't align with crap on the back.

The stock picture doesn't show them.

If you unscrew the pole, you can separate the base into 2 pieces and re-align.

Excellent post sleuthing, thank you!

"**** on the back"??? I don't see (have?) this.

The post mentions 4 screw holes, I only have 2. (Which look to be completely adequate.) For whatever it's worth.

Evidently I need to pull the camera out and take some pics.

"If you unscrew the pole, you can separate the base into 2 pieces and re-align." As I said, the base does separate into two pieces, but align? Align with what?

The "base plate" has 2 on my 2132L and 2230... not sure what the other post camera has.  I do have 4 rubber pads on each, or whatever.

Well, you can align it to where you bolt it down to, I guess... I aligned my 2132l base to know where the hooks on the backside are.

so separate the pieces, get a pen/pencil, put the base piece on the wall, scribble inside with the pen/pencil/marker... drill the holes...

reassemble the base plate with the top plate and pole and align it.... then mount....

I guess it just saves you a lot of guessing time on how to hook it in ... LOL

I guess you could mount the base plate, and just screw the top and pole on LOL

I'm using extreme/heavy duty velcro in my application after removing all mounting features.
