I will post release notes as soon as they are made available.
-
It will be good to see if they have taken note of all the suggestions... If not it would be extremely disapointing, I have hoping it resolves the offline files bug. If not I will sell it and buy something differnet.
-
Hi,
Don't worry, but last time we upgraded FW from 2.0 to 2.02, it was impossible to downgrade after... do you think that it could be the same ?
If it is, I will wait for others to try and report their comments.
best regards
-
Hi,
I tried to upgrade the firmware but I can't. It said something like "error uploading firmware. Try it again". Any ideas?
Thanks in advanced.
Regards.
By the way, I'm having problems with the users accounts. I try to change permissions but it doesn't let me. It seems to do it but when I check it by modifying it again, nothing has changed.

Did you unzip the file before trying to install?
-
Obviously! ;)
I also tried to restore nas settings, but nothing.

Obviously! ;)
No disrespect intended. You would be surprised how many users made that mistake. ;)
Try re-downloading the file. . . your file may have been corrupted.
-
:) Not worry about. I understand why you have asked me that. As you say, it happens. Anyway, thank you for your response.
I have already tried to re-download it, even from a couple of dlink ftp servers (I founded it on the spanish server too), with different browser, PC... Same error.
I had fun_plug running, but I disabled it just in case... same result...
I don't know what to do...

Has anyone successfully installed this FW version from the U.S. FTP site? If so please post.
It is possible the hosted version is corrupt, as this periodically has occurred in the past.
-
Has installed fine for me. Need to play around with it see what's new (if anything) but so far so good.
Firmware Update , Version=2.03b01(2.11.0221.2012)
-
It seems stable. The 0kb issue I reported on the wishlist is still occurring.
Could we please get a changelog?
-
And I still have problem with data corruption (see my thread about it)
Data Corruption Post (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=46679.0)
I have isolated problem to the 2.02 firmware - and still exists in 2.03
originally thought it had something to do with 3gb drives, but extensive testing shows the data corruption occurs with any size drive (well, I have tested with 500gb, 1.5tb, 2tb drives) in RAID-1.
If drive is formatted standard, corruption does not occur. (*strike that - further testing with 2.03 and single drive EXT-3/Standard format produces corruption and file size reported as 0.)
While working with the Outlook file that I can regularly and easily corrupt, at one point with the 2.02 firmware when the file got corrupted, the file size got changed to 0kb (from 343mb).
The DNS320 box with 2.00 firmware does not have the problem with RAID-1 configuration.
-
Update Went Well for me
BUT::: I still can't connect my Dvico 3300hd, log errors= "NFS client not allowed to mount the directory.ip=192.168.0.8,Directory=/mnt/HD/HD-a2/tixhd1" or in Samba "CIFS: Authenication for user [Guest] has FAILED"
-
Could we please get a changelog?
I submitted a request for a change log and will post when I hear back from D-Link. :-\
-
So far so good, fixed the FTP upload problem that I was having where "users not allowed to upload files". Looking forward to the changelog.

Updated but I don't notice any changes.... Just working fine
-
Version 2.2 gave me problems with the website from outside my network, with this version works correctly again.
I want magnet-torrents!! :P

What about the changelog?

can anyone, on a windows 7 machine right click your mapped drive and see if make available offline appears as an option?

Hi
i had firmware v2.0.2 and update with this firmware dns320_FW_203_b01 now canīt enter to ftp (ftp://ip adress) over internet, before update works fine. Also disappear ajaxplorer (i donīt use it but looks fine...........hahahahaha) for put it again i did install firmware dns320_FW_202_beta and then firmware dns320_FW_203_b01 but de ftp still dont work :'(

I see this too
-
I am so happy the windows 7 sync centre issue has been FIXED. Update to 2.03
-
Update went fine and I noticed that iTunes on my PC now shows the files available on my NAS (iTunes server).
With version 2.02 iTunes found the NAS but upon selection of the NAS it got stuck on scanning for files. This works fine with 2.03b1.
However, when controlling iTunes through the remote app on iPhone, the NAS share still gets stuck on scanning the files so the iTunes server still needs fixing.
-
If you see any items in our firmware wishlist that were corrected with this latest firmware update, please post directly on the wishlist thread and I'll amend the list accordingly.
Thanks. ;)
-
create a JBOD Volume_2 by mistake.[DEUR20120116000006-Central Europe]
Now fixed for me in 2.03b01. Successfully created raid1.
That's great.
JavaLawyer,
any release date forecast for firmware?

This would seem rather important in my view! On another note, any word on the changelog for this firmware?
-
Hi,
I installed this new FW two days ago and the DNS works fine :
- offline files are proposed now by seven 64 or 32 (pro) and XP 32 (pro),
- no problems with internet acccess to FTP or webfile server by http (SSL or not).
- just noticed that I lost recycle bin for some network shares, but not for all (?).
This FW seems correct.
Old foreign language pack (2.02 french for me) is quite good at 90% so it's not a problem.
I will test network backups of my PCs.
Bye !

Hello,
I have flashed the new beta like 2 days ago. Until now, no issues... The ajaxplorer is still there, I saw somebody saying that is not... Fun_plug is still working, I could telnet on the box and tested transmission as well...
The home interface changed since the favorites are organized by categories... I saw no other major changes, but I'm still playing with... The interface feels faster, but this is just my personal perception.
Regards,
Tash
-
Hello Tash,
I haven't Fun_Plug installed and my DNS is strictly "standard", but I don't have AjaxPlorer after applying the new FW... The corresponding directories still exist but the application is not in the interface anymore.
Anyway, I don't use it :D but that's strange comparing to your install.
Other point : when displaying directories (with subdirectories) in windows explorer, only the first level appears (just the name of the directory), without "tree" indication. After clicking once, the "tree" indicator appears and remains.
Nothing else at this time.
Regards
(and sorry for my poor english...)

Well for me this update did not go too well. When the NAS boxed restarted it lost the drive - I only got amber lights on my hard drive lights. I ended up having to run the Dlink start up software to reformat the drive.
I copied all my data back into the same folders. The upnp server thinks all the folders are ok, but when I try to find the folders from any upnp network device it fails to find any folders.
So I try to add a new folder from the upnp setup and it fails to find anything but volume_1, won't find any sub folders.
When I came home from work too, the hard drive hibernation seemed to have put the whole unit into hibernation which I had to turn the whole unit off and on again to get working. Windows 7 also refuses to automatically connect the to NAS box unless I go into explorer and open it - although I had this problem before.
-
Gone 2.02 => 2.03b01
No problem for me.
BTW afterwords I installed Fonz fun_plug and Twonky media server without any problem....
-
The upnp server is alot slower to update its media list. I have to wait 5 minutes after copying something new to it before I can pick it up on another device.... I am going to try to roll back.
-
Hi,
iTunes Server works for music, but not for Movies yet.
best regards

Hi all!
I have updated to fw 2.03b1 (from 2.0) and everything is fine so far.
More importantly, this update solved a video stuttering issue I had been experiencing when I streamed videos from Windows network shares to my WDTV. I had no way of fixing that problem and updating to this fw automatically fixed it!! At least, so far, I had been watching movies without stuttering or freezing.
The only downside I found is that my P2P folder is no longer visible. I had configured the included torrent client to download the files in Volume 2 and now I cannot see it. I tried to solve it by mapping the folder to the Windows 7 explorer, but every time I want to move a downloaded file, it takes ages to be transferred to other drive.
Is there any way of turning this to the way it was with fw 2.0?
Thank you.

I can confirm you can now roll back to older firmware's with no issues. Although I seem to be having a few problems, I am now wondering if my NAS unit is a little faulty.
-
Installed the new firmware last week. (straight from 2.00 --> 2.03). No issues yet. I tried to make the upgrade without the HDDs (so nothing could get corrupted) but it seems that the NAS needs at least one HDD to store the firmware temporarily (the upgrade would hang on 0% forever).
I'm still facing the same problem as before the upgrade though, which is accessing the web file server with non-full privileges.
Example:
I create another account called "visitor" (or whatever). I give him/her R or R/W access to one shared folder. When accessing the web file server, the user sees nothing listed. If I give him full access to everything, then...well...everything is listed. If I remove even one folder from permissions, nothing is seen (For example: If I remove Volume_1\Folder\Subfolder\subfolder2 from permissions).
Anybody else having this issue?
Haven't tried factory reset after updrage yet... maybe gonna try that.
Edit:
Okay, just noticed that copying files through windows explorer doesn't work anymore (at least not in every file transfer). Copying goes fine, but when you look at the target file, it's 0kb and obviously doesn't work.
Copying through Web file server just hangs forever until it gives user timeout and asks to login again. Altough it seems to still transfer the file (correct filesize and files work).

I have installed 2.02 and Time Machine stopped working from a Mac OS X 10.5.8. I think because Apple changed something in Lion's TM so D-Link adjusted the software for that. I'd like to know if this beta qorks with Leopard? If anyone uses it...
Thanks!

You shouldn't say that you can roll back to older firmware without qualification -
Cannot roll back to 2.00 -
Fails for me.
And both 2.02 and 2.03 have huge serious flaw that make device unusable in a real environment (data corruption / 0 file size - data integrity issue!)
You can roll back to 2.02 - but not to original shipping firmware.
-
I was having DLNA problems so I upgraded to 2.02 firmware. The DLNA problems were still there but after the upgrade I could no longer browse the file server on Snow Leopard. Since I couldn't roll back the firmware I tried this 2.03 beta firmware and still cannot use this machine with Snow Leopard :(
Was considering throwing the thing away and getting a ReadyNas Duo as its now useless since it wont work with my Mac even though its supposed to be running Samba. But then I read that the ReadyNas has similar problems with OS X 10.6. Am currently looking at replacing the unit with a LinkStation Buffalo. In the meantime, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place sitting in wait for new firmware while my device sits there like a stupid black brick.
I'm just about throwing in the towel with NAS between PC and Mac, its just a too hard basket not worth the effort. I've invested money in the NAS and disks and it adds up to be a pretty expensive exercise for hit and miss consumer hardware. I'm really not going to waste more money upgrading to Mountain Lion just in the off case that it "might" work.
It would make life so much easier if you could simply roll back firmware rather than roll the dice. ???
-
Could Dlink developers say when will be released a new firmware that fixes the big problem of data corruption / 0 file size - data integrity issue! or any way to roll back firmware 2.0 ?

Hello friends.
I bought a DNS 320 today here in Brazil.
Current NAS Firmware Version:
1:00
Firmware Date:
09/07/2010
Which version should I upgrade (200,202,203)?
Which version corrupts data?
I will use 2 HDDs 2 Tb.
thank you
Excuse my poor English.

Hello,
The two problems above occur with versions 2.2 and 2.03 ?
My NAS is with version 1.00.
I am in doubt whether to upgrade to a 2.00 or higher (2.02,2.03).
I will use two 2TB disks.
Thanks
sorry my bad inglish

today tried to connect by afp again on three macs.
all freezer and not one could connect to time machine where it workers before.
now contacting the seller, what a piece of s*** this machine :r

Unfortunately the v2.03b01 firmware is unstable and completely unreliable. We just observed a scenario where several tens of GB of 600Mb sized files spontaneously disappeared from the DNS-320 (unit A) when another DNS-320 (unit B) began a remote backup to unit A to a totally separate directory. Not all of the files disappeared, just everything that had been written up until the remote backup started to arrive in a different set of directories.
It is obvious that whoever has inherited maintenance and upgrade of the software does not have the proper expertise to test it or to fix it competently without inducing even more serious fatal defects. Unless D-Link can offer a path to a stable working version of their firmware, it is time for D-Link to do the honorable thing and immediately offer a refund or exchange to all DNS-320 users to something that provenly performs as advertized (or face a clear case for a class action lawsuit)!
-
Yea, 2.0 is pretty stable, mine came shipped with that and it worked well untilI upgraded to 2.03 :) . I think 2.01 is also somewhat stable. 2.02 and 2.03 have serious problems with file transfers.
-
Thank you friends.
I will go to 2.00 or 2.01

It for sure doesn't off time machine support and causes many troubles with mac os.
they should change the specs and leave mac compatibility out of it.
I just sell mine because I need a NAS which is reliable.
-
We just completed an exhaustive test of the DNS-320 using Retrospect 7.6 backup software and there is good news. This v2.03b01 firmware appears to have fixed the large data file corruption problem that existed in 2.02 firmware. We wrote out over 400K files into 200+ GB of 600MB each, files and then did a thorough compare on the stored files vs. the original files and after 20 hours of testing everything passed! The 2.02 firmware had failed this test.
There may still be a serious issue with the Remote Backup. In our test case, the source Remote Backup on 2.00 firmware did NOT have "Ignore Existing Files" checked. The source was backing up a hierarchy of directories with two leaf nodes say A & B. The target DNS-320 on 2.03b01 firmware had existing files already written in one of the leaf node directories, A, but the source DNS-320 on 2.00 firmware did not have any files in that leaf node directory A and was supposed to backup the files in the other leaf directory B (which it did). The source DNS-320 deleted all of the files in directory A on the target, even though there were no files in A on the source. I think this does not seem to be the correct behavior.
-
Not good! A much more exhaustive test of the DNS-320 Firmware v2.03b01 produces an error in the test software. It is not clear if it is a file corruption issue or the DNS-320 goes to sleep and doesn't wake up again when it should. Still some problem(s).
-
We traced the above error to a full disk. Apparently Firmware v2.03b01 does not graciously communicate a full disk situation and the files get corrupted and then the drive appears to become unresponsive.
-
So I think the consensus is that the newest firmware is bad and we should not upgrade to it. Should I stick to v2.0 then?
Is there an ETA of when we will get a FIX???
I just bought a Seagate 3TB hard drive but it looks like I won't be able to use it. >:(
If I install my 3TB hard drive with Version 2.0 fw, what happens?

The factory default firmware does not support 3TB HDDs. The HDD will format to a lower capacity.

Was reading through forums and fell on this....responding to a thread about corrupted data in the latest 2.03b01. Has anyone tested this so called version 2.03b03????? Apparantly it solves all data corruption issues...

I have also had this problem witht the 2.02 Firmware and contated DLink. They have recommend this Beta
ftp:************************************************************
Which seems to have solved my problems
Hope this is helpful to others.

I just signed up so I could comment on this :)
Yes, the recently posted 2.03b03 firmware does not corrupt and supports 3tb hard drives!
I recently bought two 3tb hard drives to replace the two 1tb hard drives I currently have (in raid 1). I installed Terracopy to transfer all the data as it has the option to CRC test all the copied files. To my surprise about 90% of all the files failed the CRC check, which lead me to these forums. I was using 2.02 firmware so I thought I might as well try 2.03b01 and got exactly the same number of errors.
I then found the post above recommending 2.03b03 and so far I have had zero CRC mismatches so it seems the corruption issue has been fixed.
I can't really comment on other features as I don't use them.
I would just like to note that whilst the dns-320 may only be a consumer product, holy hell d-link! Releasing firmware 2.02 as non-beta that corrupts 90% of users data!? Must be smoking some serious doobies at the dlink headquarters...
Hope this helps.
Tim
Edit:
To copy all data from the old 1tb hard drive to the new 3tb hard drive, I installed two programs that may be of help to other members of this forum. I plugged one of the old hard drives into my pc and the new hard drives into the nas.
ext2fsd http://www.ext2fsd.com/ (http://www.ext2fsd.com/)
This allows you to mount the ext3 formatted drive in windows and view it as a normal drive in explorer.
Teracopy http://codesector.com/teracopy/ (http://codesector.com/teracopy/)
This replaces the windows explorer file copy with its own, which is faster and allows you to CRC check the old data with the newly copied data. An excellent idea for dns-320 owners.
-
Finally, it appears that version 2.03b03 fixes "0 kilobytes" issue.
Thanks for link for this version.
-
Not sure if it's a fluke or what... I upgraded from v2.0 to v2.03b1 and my xfer speeds (PC to DNS-320) shot up considerably....much better xfer speeds.
I didn't get a chance to "technically" test this, so someone in the forum may want to verify this.

Can you provide the pre-upgrade and post-upgrade throughput?
-
I can't say I've noticed any difference. Copying over to the NAS a large 8GB file transferrs at around 25MB per second, which is similar to the old speeds as far as I remember.
Still zero corruptions after a week of use on 3tb drives :)

Your HDD 1TB RAID1 was in?
In my DNS-320 firmware 2.00 two discs(80 Gb) in RAID1 could not use the ext2fsd.
STANDARD settings (not RAID) is plug the disk into a Linux OS.
Thanks

Yep the drives were in raid 1, which as far as I'm aware is exactly the same as JBOD, just mirrored onto two drives. I tried a variety of ext3 mounting programs for windows and none of them worked. The dlink forums recommended this: http://www.fs-driver.org/ but that did not work for me. ext2fsd was the only one that worked for me. I had to restart the computer, then load up the program, start the service and assign a drive letter to the largest partition on the drive. After that it worked perfectly and I could copy all the data very quickly.
Hope this helps

DNS-320 with 2.02. Two 2TB WD Red drives.
I found that I can create a RAID1 volume at 1tb and select the option "leaving the remaining disk space for future". I checked this box as I wanted to create a second RAID1 volume.
The first volume was created and formatted. The message of success was displayed and I returned to the Disk Management screen. Now I was presented with an option to create another volume in the free space. This looked like it was going to take me through the same screens, but instead went of to attempt formatting the space, but hung on a screen that said "Formatting 0%" and stayed there.
Speaking to DL Tech Support, they were surprised that this happened, but have confirmed that the disks I am using should be okay in this unit. They recommended a RAID1 volume with the remainder of the drives as a single JBOD volume.
I've been given a download like to 2.03b03 which I have downloaded but not yet used.
Has anyone else managed to get two RAID1 volumes created on this NAS box?

Just wondering, After I updated my fw to 2.03b3, am i able to revert back to 2.02?
I'm currently at 2.02, there's really no way for me to go back to 2.00 uh...
The 0kB issue, i plan to use the hdd in my nas as jbod, am i running into this risk as well when it comes to copying large files?
I have a few 6-7GB of .Iso and mpg files in the nas, so far no 0kb as reported yet. Everything are copied using Windows Explorer copy and paste on Win 7 x64.

Firmware v2.03b03 is not supported by D-Link and was developed specifically for DNS-320s in a non-US country/region. DNS-320 owners who obtain and install a leaked copy of this firmware do so at their own risk.

I am from Malaysia btw, so I guess it has a chance of being able to work. Anyway I have yet to install it, still using 2.02 here.
Anyway I tried to copy a 7GB file into the dns320 using both Teracopy and a normal windows copy and paste. A file copy using TeraCopy resulted in a CRC error, while using a normal windows copy and paste has no CRC error at all.
Hope this findings will be helpful :).

Regarding Firmware version 2.03b03: DNS-320 - Firmware Version 2.03b03 - Notice (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50445.0)

Great on the notice.
Anyway I tested with another 1GB file, again, Teracopy-copy resulted in a checksum error, and a normal windows copy and paste checksum checks out.
I tried verifiying with md5 as well..same thing happened. The file I used teracopy to copy was corrupted while the normal copy was fine.

Hey Java, in regards to that notice, is there any reason we cannot be given a rough roadmap to the release of 2.03 stable?
Also, I noticed that there are no links to the stable firmwares on the forums.

If I had that information available, I would have shared it with the community. Unfortunately, D-Link is rather secretaive when it comes to FW release dates and overall roadmap.

If you're able to pass this to the D-Link team, I think most of us would appreciate it even if the release dates provided are tentative and not confirmed. Does D-Link have a regular firmware release cycle of some sort?

From experience, I can say that D-Link does not publicly discuss their firmware release cycle, neither confirmed nor conceptual.

Watching the DNS-320 NAS,
when purchased new NAS and connected to gigabit router and gigabit pc this copy from the NAS to the PC to 35 MB / s, if you enable the P2P low speed to 11 MB / s, if you enable the DLNA streaming P2P is built next to the speed drops to 6 MB / s
if you disable the P2P and streaming DLNA and Twonky server installed fun_plug with SSH enabled and the speed remains at 10 MB / s.
my question is there any application to stabilize the CPU to maintain the initial velocity or is inevitable with this pileup?
because I have a Western Digital NAS mybookworld white light activated yet speed is 20 MB / s fixed and wifi keeps surprising 10MB / s

Was reading through forums and fell on this....responding to a thread about corrupted data in the latest 2.03b01. Has anyone tested this so called version 2.03b03????? Apparantly it solves all data corruption issues...
I have installed the firmware 2.03.b01 works perfectly and does not corrupt the data on P2P works well, the only thing I see but I could try before the speed is low Transference, as active and dlna p2p, or simply when fung_plug install and run TwonkyServer

Hi,
Just for information :
My DNS worked perfectly until now under 2.03b01. But:
- it becomes impossible to copy large files from any source (~700 kb e.g.). The CRC is always bad with TeraCopy, It was good before this week.
- the Copy button on the front face of the DNS doesn't work. Il I plug a USB Key, it's mounted and shared correctly on my network by the DNS, but impossible to realize a direct copy with the copy button (in order to avoid copy by the network)...
My config is 2 disks o f1 Tb mirrored (RAID 1).
The content loaded before (any size) remains stable and readable.

this problem is already know with 2.03b01, even present in 2.02. Most of us solved by using the inofficial release of 2.03b3, or those lucky enough to have receive the fw version 2.00 remained at that version.
If you are on 2.03b1, I suggest you to refrain from using Teracopy. The file corruption seem to occur less when using the normal copy and paste / normal file transfer.
I was using 2.02 prior, was able to consistenly corrupt my files while using Teracopy, whereas yet to encounter a file corruption issue using normal transfer.

Update: A new beta firmware will be openly posted soon.

I sure hope so. I've not been able to successfully back up since updating to Mountain Lion. Ugh.

Great ! Do you know if it's the same than the previously leaked 2.03b03, or another one ?
