Title: Configuring a DSL-2790U to point to a different gateway
Post by: woody2371 on May 11, 2016, 09:37:44 PM
Hi all,

Been trying to set up our new office router with little to no success. Seems that the options inside the unit either straight up don't work, or aren't straightforward at all.

My local network consists of a rack with a bunch of 48-port switches, and a 4G modem that is supplying our secondary internet (primary is via a Cisco router/VPN).

DHCP leases are currently handled by the 4G modem. Current WiFi is via the 4G modem, but I installed the DSL-2790U to replace the terrible 4G WiFi.

I have installed a DSL-2790U intending for it to handle DHCP leases for WiFi and hardwired connections, pointing the devices to 192.168.3.1 (the 4G modem) for internet connection.

Tried setting up multiple ways of doing this. Tried to go to Internet Connection > Bridge Mode, and it sits there as Unconfigured with no configuration options. Tried to set up Network Tools > Default Gateway but there was no further options there.
Checked the Help manual and it was obviously written for a prior firmware because all the references are called something different now.

Anyone know how to set this up on this unit?

Thanks

Can try this and see if you can run the DSL modem as an AP: Turning a router into an AP. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0)
