"Add date and time suffix to file name" has no affect
« on: September 10, 2017, 05:32:02 AM »

Camera model: DCS-4703E
Camera Firmware: 1.00.06

Problem: Checkbox in FTP upload options marked as "Add date and time suffix to file name" has no affect on the filename. Either way the date and time is forced to the filename. This makes it impossible to overwrite the previous upload and disk gets filled up!

What's the deal here? Bug?

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

What browser are you using when your setting this feature?

1. Virginia
2. Routerboard RB960PGS v. 6.40.3 (not relevant to this issue)
3. Not using wireless
4. Chrome and IE tested

Could you please forward this to the coding team. Hard to see that it could be anything other than bug.

I will forward this to the camera people. They will test to verify.

So checking the "add date/time..." box does not add it to the filename? Have you tried rebooting the camera after enabling that setting?

The problem is that there is always a time stamp in the filename. Unchecking it does nothing.

The end goal here is to send a picture every 5min to FTP -server and overwrite the previous image in the process. If filename keeps changing it just fills up the FTP server. Really basic stuff.

I have tried reboot, yes.

You want the camera to send a picture once every 5 minutes with the same filename? So at the end of the day the storage folder will only contain a single file?
Not possible, the recording or saving function is not design that way.

How the h*ll is that not possible? Really basic stuff to send over and over same file again and again. Every other webcam has this functionality. Without this feature it gets really difficult to have a webcam image on a webpage for everyone to see.

The image quality on an jpeg is also so poor that leaves me to wonder what this camera has been designed for. Not everyone has "Securitas" with security software and monitors they sit in front of all day.

Review this and see if it helps for putting DCS camera video on web sites:

Yes but this only allows only one user with the same user id. Public website is not possible with this method?

I presume if you set up a user named account specially for the public web site then it would work.

I presume having any other kind of work around would be a security issue that D-Link doesn't support.
