DCS-932L camera loses all settings are a few power cycles
« on: June 19, 2016, 02:45:27 PM »

Hello,

i have a very strange issue with my two dcs-932l cameras. I used them in a place where they are powered off and then powered back in every 8-10 hours or so.
The issue i have is that after a few power cyctes the cameras stop connecting to my wireless network. Upon checking i found that whenever this problem happens, i find the camera in "factory default" state. i.e its admin password is gone, all network settings and all other settings have been reset to the factory defaults.
I updated to latest firmware but still have the same issue.
anyone else notice this?

Old. They are hardware Rev A. They had been stashed away and were not being used for the last two years or so.
Regardless how old they might be, im trying to understand this messed up behavior they exhibit.

My 2132l feel and the front part of the case snapped open. I took some pictures. I think I see a lithium battery in there.  Hard to tell if it is soldered in from my picture. This might be your issue.

Ah thanks. ok that could explain the issue i'm having. I'll have to find out if the dcs-932l has a battery in it.

EDIT: i looked up internal pics of my camera on google and it doesnt seem to have an internal battery.

I probably found the same images online. A quick search about your problem with 932l didn't really return any results.

No idea  :(

ink>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?

You might try a factory reset, manually reload FW, factory reset then set up from scratch.

Thats a pretty canned response that i've seen from you in other posts.
All info was provided above.

Latest fw. Rev A hardware.Im in Canada.
Make, model of router does matter in this case.
Camera does a factory reset by itself, thats what my problem is.

You being a moderator, i would have expected that you had read my issue at least.
Thanks.

All information asked is pertinent and may help in helping us help you.

Regardless of this self factory reset, try the manual factory reset, manual re-load of FW, manual factory reset and set up from scratch.
If the problem still happens after this, then I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Thank. I've done several manual resets and have flashed the twice.
I have two to these cameras. Both have the same issue. I'm jsut wondering if this is how they behave after a few power cycles.
Phone/chat support wont help me as product is end of life
