Title: Problem with DIR 850 L (in windows 8.1)
Post by: cata92sv on February 18, 2015, 08:17:27 AM
I've just installed windows 8.1 in my laptop and after an annoying fight with "limited connectivity" problem I finally managed to connect my laptop to internet. But the results are disastrous. My internet speed (via cable) is 500 mb/s (tested). Using the 2.4 ghz I should get in speed tests about 300 mb/s right? But I get between 2 mb/s and 20 mb/s at most. My Firmware Version : 1.12WW and  Hardware Version : A1

I cannot understand what is going on...when I use the Microsoft driver for the Broadcom Wireless Adaptor (laptop: Lenovo V570) I cannot connect to internet at all (limited connectivity) and when I use the Broadcom driver I get this speed.

Please help !

Thanks

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Its not really recommended to speed test via WiFi due to many variables that can cause inaccurate results....Wired speed testing is preferred. Also Mfr wireless device design and support will be a factor. LAN wired speed testing is recommended first and foremost..
