Disabling Streamboost

Ok I just got this setup and am running FW1.13b4. What I don't understand with this router is why when I disable streamboost it also shuts off pretty much 100% of my monitoring functions on the router like activity and such? Any router I had w/o boost had these functions which work fine w/o it. Do they not want me to see the difference with it on and off or what? For a gaming router manual speed control by ip would have been nice to, but am not seeing any reason whatsoever to disable all my monitoring functions just because I have streamboost off. If I am missing something please let me know. Thanks.

So no way to use activity and other monitoring while SB is off? That's kinda lame that they disable these just because it's off. Also, why doesn't it save my order of priorities when I move them around and click save? I check at different times and they have been changed.

Doesn't seem to matter if it's wired or not, when you stream or have activity on a device the bar goes up, then to 0, repeat over and over. Not steady feed at all.
Yes I have factory reset it.
Whats the deal with no monitoring working just because you shut off SB? This seems kinda weak that it is all disabled just because this feature is shut off.
Wonder also if this is something they gave up on since you click help in firmware and it just says"to be done". I thought I was buying a new router, but if this thing is way outdated, maybe I need to return it.

All of the SB features are probably tied into the other features so when it's disabled the status and information would be disabled I think.

The router came out in early 2014 and unfortunately had a unsatisfactory bumpy development right that we were all disappointed in.

Unfortunately I can't recommended this router on my experiences with it. Please don't take this as a sign of all D-Links router line is the same. I have tested and worked with many other model router which are and exceed the 5500 in every way.

I can make some other model router recommendations if you wish.

I kinda like that level of control if I could change speeds of just an item on network w/o changing the whole setup. Thanks.

Do a lot of gaming and just a couple of them I play my fast connection actually kills me due to lag compensation. This is best way to combat it so your speed is not put into overflow lagging you in game.

I would recommend a DIR-868L Rev A, DIR-866L Rev A if you want the older web UI feel. the DIR-890L and newer generation routers starting with the 880L all have the newer style web UI now which is more simplified and some of the advanced features seen in older generation router are not on the newer generation routers UI as seen here:

It's not the UI feel I like, but the advanced control of up and downstream. Finding that they are over simplifying things now but cutting out these features. QOS is junk for accurate control of speed, just prioritizes traffic. On some shooters I like to set both my up and down to 2mb which keeps me out of overflow when it comes to lag compensation. So if that's all these new Dlink routers have now is QOS, then I will have to shop another brand. Thanks.

Be aware that QoS is only for the Uplink, not the downlink.

Try the 868L or the 866L, these have the older ui and the features you need.

Just curious what Mfr and model router did you have?

You can still get the feature I think you need if you review the 868L and 866L routers. I have the 868L router. Been a rock solid router since day one. I wished the 5500 could have been as good. Qualcomm is to blame for it's down fall.  >:(

OK, was curious. I had a WNDR3700. Was ok. I found D-Links QoS more useful for configuring devices for gaming. Sent you a PM.
