Title: Video Issues - 933L defective??
Post by: gajego on March 12, 2014, 08:31:19 AM
I've enabled motion detection on my 933L and started getting lots of events. When I see the picture,
the images that triggered the event looks liks this:

Your DCS-933L is not defective, this is a known issue intermittently impacting the DCS-931L and DCS-933L.

Thanks for responding.

Old problem but not fixed. In my oppinion the product is defective.

Do you (or anyone else) know if the new firmware fixes the issue?

The latest firmware does not fix this issue. The latest firmware only addresses security issues.

Was the artifacts problem reported on the 942?  I was thinking to return the 933L since the firmware does not fixes the issue and buy the 942.

Many thanks! ;)

Great! Thank You!

Your welcome. Post back and let us know how everything turns out.
I'm hoping this is simply an issue that will be corrected via a firmware update. Time will tell.  ;)

Got the 5020L instead, this one is far superior in image quality, angle view, better supported, PTZ, and does not give that many false motion detected events.

I'm glad you're happy with the DCS-5020L. I have one myself and am very impressed with the camera's performance thus far. IMHO, the price to functionality/performance ratio is amongst the best of the D-Link Cloud cameras.

I can tell you that the v1.03b08 is much better. I'm running 640x480 - H.264 - 1.5Mbps - fps30.
I mail my motion detected (40%) movies, 8 seconds, to keep the avi size acceptable. And I upload the motion detected movies (15 seconds) to a FTP server. Until now no false detections.  ;D

I think they did a good job. Unfortunately without any communication during the development process. I still think that's a very bad think D-Link!!!! We were waiting 4 months without any status update.  >:(

Greetings.

Thanks for your continued feedback. I hope other DCS-933L owners post their experience as well to validate that everything has in fact been resolved. I'd feel more confident proclaiming success with at least three people offering similar results.
