My configuration is DIR-615 Hardware E3 Firmware version 5.10.

I had the same issue of my VPN software(Juniper Network Connect) dropping and reconnecting every 12 min or so. I seem to have fixed it by unchecking the ALG Configurations and changing the NAT Endpoint Filtering to Endpoint Independent setting. Both these options are under the Firewall section in the web based administration. I unchecked all ALG configurations though you can probably just uncheck the IPSec one and it might work. Also,  I changed the NAT endpoint filtering for both UDP and TCP.

Give it a shot if you are still having issue. Firmware changing seems too drastic for something as basic as VPN connection.

Unfortunately I have the same router model and firmware and have the same issues with dropping the VPN, but that is not all.....many times a session with firefox when refreshing the browser or going to a new page, i get "the connection was reset" msg....and when i hit the "try again" button, it goes through normally...same thing happens with IE, it just gives it's own lost connection msg.....I upgraded from a G router that never had a problem, hoping to get a faster connection.....but youtube videos, clips, etc will hang/stutter because of this issue.....I'm about ready to spend money I don't have to get the dir-825 to stop being annoyed......anybody know of a definitive solution that works??

What HW version is your router?
What FW version is currently loaded?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off QoS options.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA2.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area?

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

I've been having this problem as well. I did as this response suggested and changed "NAT Endpoint Filtering" to Endpoint Independent and am having more success. THanks for the tip! Did anyone else succeed?

I apologize if it's bad form to resurrect a 2-year old thread, but I'm just extremely happy and grateful that I found this thread. Though I have a different router (I have the DHP-1320), I had the exact same problem: every 12 minutes my Juniper Network Connect session would disconnect, and it was driving me nuts. I changed the NAT endpoint filtering for both TCP and UDP to be Endpoint Independent, and this problem seems to be completely fixed.

Thank you so much for posting this!     :)
