Systemlog
« on: March 12, 2016, 11:23:02 AM »

I just got my 890L. Is it possible to see a detailed systemlog on the 890L? I can't find it.

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

D-Link routers have a syslog feature that ports data out to a PC host and syslog capture software. You can find this here:
http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir890l/100/SystemLog.html

I haven't tried this yet...it may generate it's own logs with out the need of additional software. Check with D-Link resources, a host PC is needed and needs to have a syslog app installed to capture the data.

Hi FurryNutz.

The 890L has FW 1.08. I know  about the syslog.
I have set it up so it sends logiles to my Synology NAS DS211+, but the info only is about wifi connect.
I was thinking about firewall loging and more, like see in my old DIR655>Logs...

Is there a way to see get a more detailed log, maybe a way to acces it direct?  http://192.168.1.1/sysinfo.cgi or http://192.168.1.1/log.cgi ?

Logfile as seen from my Synology:

Im am located in Denmark.

Ya the new UI for the new generation routers don't have those log features anymore.  :-\

Yes, but dont you think that the logs are just hidden to the regular user? Maybe there a way to see the logs, not from the UI.

Do you get any logs when you set up the email notification?

I think the UI is based off a new coded system and probably doesn't have any hidden features.

It looks like I get the same info from email notification as I did with syslog. But there is as section called Firewall & Security and one called Router status. But its emty, like it needs to be enabled to log it? Like is was on the DIR655.

The router is doing just fine, no problems. Have done some reboots of the router myself, but it is not related to the router.
I could wish for a more detailed log og the firewall, and some other improvements, maybe a better app, but the router works as it should I think.
