Hi, I think that this is the proper forum to ask.
I see the actual download and upload speed in the router status page, or when you just open the router page giving device info.
I am using dlink 2730u new model router.
Can i get the details of actual download and upload speed shown in megabits in the router page, as said above in my desktop.
Is there any settings in my router to enable so that i could see the speed actual show in the router in my desktop
Or are there any dlink software that would make that possible.Experts

There is no application or configuration that supports this.

Hi, Thanks. Why dlink could not provide. This would be welcomed by all, to know the actual speed of both DL and UL in mbps in their desktop itself. Since i face different speed in different times of the day, i asked this query.
Is there any command prompt that could do this from windows commands like netsh etc

You can use http://speedtest.net from any computer or mobile device. Internet speed indicators only test the speed between you and a specific server/node. You test 10 different servers you will get 10 different speeds depending on how many hops, distance, etc. There are many factors that can affect Internet speed.

Having it built-in to the router would not be accurate and would add overhead to the processor.

There was an app a long time ago that I believe had this feature. Was a Windows Vista trinket app. Didn't last very long. I think it was a yahoo/d-link app. Been about 10 years since.

I presume one reason is that speed testing is varied and only needs to be run once in a while. It doesn't need a constant run in the back ground. Also would effect network performances as well. Speed testing should be done with all other devices off line with a wired ethernet connected PC. Runs some tests then your done.
