Title: [BUG] QOS Broken
Post by: Gunz on January 07, 2015, 02:49:27 PM
I just received my unit today from NewEgg and spent several hours troubleshooting why my internet speed was significantly less then my last router. I came to the conclusion that the cause of the slow down was QOS. If any device was in the QOS list the speed was brought down by 40MBPS. Even the device listed at highest priority. I hope this gets fixed before the product gets more wide spread as this was one of the key advertised features.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email as I won't be checking this thread regularly.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For DSL or Fiber service lines, ensure that the ISP is using good working phone or cable lines to the DSL modem and that the phone lines are filtered correctly. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. I recommend having the ISP service physically check the lines going from the out side to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

Does the speed slow down if you remove the device from QoS?

You'll need to check back with this forum thread as we don't communicate outside of the fourms when users post.
Thank you.

I actually spoke to one of the top tier support reps and we had come to the conclusion that in fact QOS was not operating properly. He sent over a ticket to the Network Engineer and I should be hearing back monday.

Sure.

There is only one firmware available
I am in NA.
I have tried every band wireless & wired.

My ISP is Optimum Online
I normally average 120MBPS Down, 35UP
I run a SB6141 and it is only a modem.

Thank you for the information.

I'll be checking with D-Link on this as well. I'll post if I get any information.

If your seeing problems with WiFi, please post about that as well. I'll have additional information for WiFi problems.

While you are waiting, could you test your parental controls to see if you exhibit any similar issues as seen in this thread? Please? If you have time.
