Trying to use a DAP-1522 as a bridge with a Linksys WRT54GC. I have a problem where the Orange light will continue blinking continuously while the DAP rotates indefinitely through this:

Uptime 0 day 00:03:57  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:56  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:55  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:55  [Wireless]4-way handshake success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:55  [Wireless]Association Sucess: Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:50  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:50  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:49  [Wireless]Group key update success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:49  [Wireless]4-way handshake success:Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE
Uptime 0 day 00:03:49  [Wireless]Association Sucess: Root AP 00:0F:66:82:F4:EE

I cannot ping the WRT router while directly connected only to the DAP, and I cannot ping the DAP while directly connected to the router. The DAP's MAC address does not show up in the router's list of connected wireless clients, even though on the status page it will occasionally show connected for one refresh.

The WRT router is setup with the following:

192.168.1.1
255.255.255.0
DHCP enabled
starting IP address: 192.168.1.100
maximum DHCP addresses: 100

Mixed B & G
SSID broadcast enabled

WPA Personal
TKIP
passphrase
key renewal 3600

Advanced settings are default

DAP is setup:

IP Address :  192.168.1.150
Subnet Mask :  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :  192.168.1.1

WPA-Personal
Auto WPA or WPA2
TKIP
passphrase

MAC cloning enabled

I've tried setting the router to only B mode and also channel 1. For testing the DAP I have it in the same room as the router where I haven't had any wireless issues with my laptop or phone.

I've tried changing the channel width on the DAP, and tried disabling short GI.

I couldn't find any information in the router logs that looked like they came from interaction with the DAP.

Make sure DAP is on the latest firmware 1.20...I could not get my 1522 to associate with the 655 until I upgraded.  Turn off MAC Cloning and allow the MAC address of the DAP to associate - may have MAC forwarding confusion on WRT assuming you are using the same PC to set up both.  Light will always blink while in bridge mode....note I noticed with my 1522 that if I do not have anything plugged into the Ethernet ports the 1522 stops transmitting - I think there is green technology in the DAP and only associates and transmits when required or Ethernet device powered (read less power consumption).

Thank you for the advice- I tried upgrading it from 1.10 to 1.20 and disabling MAC cloning, but it didn't seem to change anything.

What do you want to achieve? I'm thinking you use wrong mode.

reset the dap-1522. disconnect your router from the PC and connect the dap-1522 to your PC. restart your PC. Login to to the dap-1522 (http://192.168.0.50) and try using the setup wizard.

I'm trying to use the bridge to create a wireless link to my router so that hard wired machines connected to the bridge will have access to the network as if they were wireless clients of the router.

reset the dap-1522. disconnect your router from the PC and connect the dap-1522 to your PC. restart your PC. Login to to the dap-1522 (http://192.168.0.50) and try using the setup wizard.

Thanks, but I still experience the same problem after doing this.

As they both are performing the group key update again and again, seems there are communication problems regarding the encryption.

If your WRT supports WPA2-PSK / AES please try this. Don't use any "Auto" settings if possible!

To test the connection you may even try without encryption. Be sure they have connection of at least 60%.
A lower value often causes interruptions.

Setting it to WPA2 + AES worked, thanks a lot lizzi.

That's kind of a pain though, because some of my equipment does not work with that encryption. It probably won't work with WPA + TKIP, right?

The Ralink Chipset in the DAP does not work very well with TKIP.
It is designed for AES encryption.
I got only half of the speed when set to WPA-PSK / TKIP.

But you may try. Different clients - different behavior.
But if ever possible avoid "Auto" settings.
Your devices will always try to negotiate best speed and encryption ... and it fails in a lot of cases.
