Title: parental control - number of entries
Post by: Martin71 on March 04, 2011, 10:46:24 AM
Hello all!

For our children, we use the parental control feature of the DIR-615 (RevD, FW4.11b15), which works excellently. I use the whitelist feature, so only trusted web sites can be accessed. Unfortunately the DIR-615 only has 10 entries in that list and I will soon need more. So I wonder if there is another D-Link router that offers a bigger list with maybe 50 or even 100 entries? If not, what other options do I have to solve this?

Thanks
Martin

I would contact one of the moderators here or call up Dlink and see what they recommend.

Thanks FurryNutz, I tried that. Called D-Link Service in Germany (that's where I live) and found out that these people know even less about their products than I do. So I was hoping to find some knowledgeable user here.

Try Moderators: Lycan, sesca on here. Can't guarantee anything...explain your situation. You'll might get a response after the weekend here in the U.S.

This could be an issue globally for all of there routers. I can't be sure and not everyone might need this many options. You maybe need to research possible SW options as well. These are fairly average routers with probably just enough options for the average user so development of these routers are probably geared to the average home user.

I also presume that this router may not be still developed as far as FW goes.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

What makes you think its only 10? Not saying your wrong but the emulator implies (though I could be reading it wrong) that you can have 40? Seems the DGL-4500 I and Furry use can do 64. Past that, your really going beyond what these routers were designed for.
