DCS-6620G - Help please :)
« on: September 25, 2008, 06:17:11 PM »

Hi everyone
I have a DCS-6620G WLPTZ cam that doesn't work :(
Can't connect to the cam through IE Browser, wether through LAN or direct connect over a cross-over cable

Can connect to cam via FTP though

Cant update firmware

i think that there is a corrupt file somewhere in the camera
does anyone have a copy of the installed files (uncompressed) that i can upload to the Camera
and hopefully this will fix my problems

other than that
SENSATIONAL Camera ???

Here is a link to the support website.

Are you looking for firmware when you refer to Installed files? Are you using a router and what is your cameras IP address? Have you installed Installation Wizard on your PC?

Don't know if this will help......

I found that connecting the 3220 'out of the box' with it's base IP (192.168.0.99) to a router that has a different IP for it's LAN (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1) can cause connection issues. My fix was using a junk router and setting the LAN as 192.168.0.1. Connect to that router and you should see the camera.

Installation Wizard would see the cameras, sometimes it wouldn't....but it not let me connect or change any of it's settings on the ones I could see.

There are a couple of much simpler solutions - use the installation wizard to change the camera's ip address so that it's within the network range of your router - or - temporarily set a static ip in the 192.168.0.x range with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 on a computer and use that to access the camera and configure it - because of the class b subnet you would be able to communicate with any device from 192.168.0.1~192.168.255.254.

This is unlikely to be the original poster's problem though - he would be unable to access the camera using ftp if the ip addresses were incorrectly set.
