Where to post questions about the DIR 826L
« on: June 17, 2012, 07:25:50 PM »

I just setup my DIR-826L. When I attempt to setup remote HTTP access port and remote HTTPS port, the router gives me an error that the port conflicts with another setting. I tried hundreds of different port numbers an I get the same error.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Try using port 8181 and use no HTTPS?
What current FW is loaded?
What browser are you using to configure the router? Happen on a different browser like Opera or FF?

Tried Firefox and only HTTP port 8181, FW-V 1.1 - Get the same message - "Remote Access ports [8181] conflicts with other setting". Also tried different port numbers and get the same message on all of them.

I would do a factory reset once more and just go in and set up the remote access and see if you get the same message. If so, I would contact DLink level 2 support. Let us know how it goes.

Did the factory reset already and opened a TT with Dlink support. Will post the result.

OK Figured it out.
1. Disable remote management (tools/management) - then save.
2. Create storage port numbers (setup/storage) - at this point you can use any port including the default 8181 and 4434, although the ports cannot obviously be the same as the remote management port (I chose 8182 and 4434) - then save
3. Go back and re-enable remote management (tools/management) - use any port that is not the same as the storage ports.

Conclusion: After disabling the remote management port, then any port can be assigned to the storage port. If not, then no port can be assigned to storage. Once the port has been assigned the first time then you can manipulate the storage ports anytime, its just the first time that presents the problem and for obvious reasons the two port numbers cannot be the same.

So in my theory this is a bug.

Wow, nice info. Seems like alot to do for getting remote management to work. Let Dlink know. I'll see if i can pass this along here.
