Wii keeps connecting every 5-10 minutes
« on: May 20, 2008, 06:56:04 PM »

Hi,
I have a wii connected to my wbr-2310 and If I look at the logs I see that it keeps disconnecting and connecting every 5-10 minutes.  Isn`t connection being maintained ???

Below my log file after 3 minutes with full log level..  You will see a lot of "DHCP lease IP" to my wii  ( forget my log i`ve removed it )

Is the problem in the wii or the device that shut the connection down ?

Any clues?

Thanks

:-\ Well well..   i found out that it`s most likely the wii itself that disconnect and check for new mail & cie every 2 to 8 minutes.  This means that it`s not the router that have an issue.

I guess Nintendo did that to make the device consume less energy.. who knows..

Maybe having a log telling that the client disconnected from the router would have helped figure this out by myself ...

Hey, I was having this problem too.... I borrowed my brother's Wii for a few months when he was away at college.... It got to the point that I would get about 5 emails or more a day from the router because 'log is full'. The problem is the Wii Connect 24 option on the Wii. I just turned it off, but that made the Wii unable to get to certain services online, like weather and news. I would look into it more, but I gave the Wii back already since he is home for the summer.
