Title: COVR 2202+1 : Intermittent Connection
Post by: born996 on March 13, 2021, 08:12:33 PM
I have been using the COVR 2202 system and it works quite well. However, the range wasn't good enough, so I added an additional COVR 2200 node to my mesh system.

The additional COVR 2200 node was extremely unstable - internet drops randomly every 1 min ~ 6 hour. Extremely, extremely random. You could go the day without issues, or you could be facing intermittent internet every 5 mins or seconds. You will never know. Basically, very irregular. (See screenshot)

The original 2 COVR 2202 nodes however, continues to work as advertised.

I then proceeded to try the latest 1.06 firmware from this forum, following this FW upgrade guide. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0
Basically, reset the 2 additional points (the B point that came with the A, and the new COVR 2200 point) first using a SIM card pin, then upgrading them to 1.06 over ethernet cable, then factory reset again.

After which, I did the same to the COVR 2202 point A, following the same guide and process.
Was able to set all the settings once again: Internet / Security / etc.
"Installed" the nodes one by one through ethernet cable, and.... same issue continues

What region are you located?
- Asia / SEA / Singapore

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- Fibre @ 500Mbps

** Test internet directly from router shows 477 down / 476 up **
Somehow, have also been experiencing slow upload capped at 12 for some reason too..

went down to service center and staff advised that it was because the 3 nodes were "not installed in a straight line, but instead a 'triangulation', and hence the node is 'confused' as to which system to connect to"

anyone can confirm this?

Placement and distance between the A point and B points is important.
What is the placement and distance currently with your system?

All point using same version FW?
What CAT# cable are you using? CAT6 is recommended.
Is the B point directly connected to the back of the A point router or is there a LAN switch in between the A and B Points?
