Title: Debugging motion detection effectively- how to have camera tell you what moved?
Post by: peteltomer on December 18, 2017, 01:02:20 PM
Hi All
As im sure many people have this issue: false motion detection messages. I feel like a good way to debug this is to be able to have the camera tell me what it thought was the motion it is reporting about.
If it shows me something that moved that was not supposed to move, i could fix that. If it showed me something else, such as a change in light or something, i could adjust the sensitiviy
However i do need the camera to "tell" me, what it thought was the motion it is reporting for.

How can i do that?

What is the value of detection you have set on the camera?
What kind of environment is the camera installed in and what is the camera viewing?

Most's cameras are not smart enough to tell what motion is being detected or what triggers it. Only that something has triggered a motion or movement.

Frankly that is not what im looking for.
These questions you are asking me are not going to help me reduce false motion. What will help me is to know what the camera is perceiving as motion and then to remove or mitigate that.
Does anyone know if that is possible?
