Sudden signal strength drops..Factory reset...can't log in
« on: September 10, 2013, 06:43:30 AM »

This started on Sunday, random drops from both wireless radios 2.4 & 5 GHZ. It seemed more noticeable on 2.4 as there are more 2.4mhz devises. Note that everything was spectacular before Sunday. The only change I made was the login password from admin to a new p/w. It all seemed to start after that. After several reboots things seemed OK, but only for a while and devises where dropping like flies. This morning my wireless printer would not connect, it's 4 feet from the router. BTW I had all devise IP's reserved. Other settings were set as recommended QOS off and such.....
I backed up my config file and did a factory reset. I loaded my config file when it rebooted only to find that now I can't login to the router.....but my printer is connected now. I get the login screen with the code generator..... afraid to do a reboot.

Did you follow this for upgrading FW?
 FW Update Process

Did you generate a new saved configuration file after you loaded v1.02 FW and set it up from scratch?

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8 or 9, set compatibility mode and test again.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

It's recommended to disable the CAPTCHA feature.

You might want to do a reload of the FW using FF. Do a factory reset, send the FW file. Factory reset once more then set up from scratch.

I haven't experienced this as of yet with my 868L. However I do mostly use Mac and Safari to manage my routers. Maybe there could be an issue with Windows and browsers there.

What version of IE?

I'm using IE10.

Excuse my ignorance...I trust I do a reset using the reset button on the bottom of the router?
Will that allow me to login?
