Title: DSL 2740B Rev C2 unable to connect to Gigabit switch
Post by: binskin on March 02, 2012, 02:46:17 AM
I'm having a great deal of trouble trying to get my DSL 2740B to connect to a TPLink SG1008D Gig switch, for the life of me the connection will simply not sync.

Im on what i believe is the latest firmware 2.34_AUS, ive set the logging onto debug and it reports back nothing relating to the sync issues the device is having. The led for the switch port lights up, flashes and switches off for 5-10 seconds then starts the cycle again.

Both router / switch are auto sensing across all ports, so i should not require a cross over to establish the link.

Other devices connect to the gig switch without a problem.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check cable between Router and switch. Cat6 is recommended.

Try different switch.

I've tried a number of different known working cables, ill be testing the switch today. I have a feeling that it will be an incompatibility between the dlink / tplink auto negotiate ability.

The TPlink switch has no problems hooking up to a netgear D600, admittedly its also GB - hence my assumption is the dlink simply cant sync @ 100 with the TPLink ...

I have my DSL 2740B C2 connecting to the same switch with no problems.  Are you able to access internet if you connect a cable directly to the D-Link?  Try a factory reset and start again?
