Upgrading DIR-655 A2 from 1.11EU to 1.31EUB02 ?
« on: October 05, 2011, 02:42:39 PM »

I have an DIR-655 which I bought in May 2008 with hardware version: A2 and firmware version: 1.11EU
The firmware is dated 2007/11/5, and (I think) this is an pre-N (802.11n) release.

Question 1: Is the firmware version 1.11EU a pre-N release ?

Question 2: I'm running an RT2870-driver from RaLink on my Linux System (Ubuntu 11.04) with a DWA-140 wireless adapter rev. B1 (RT2870 chip set inside - I have physically checked that.. :-) ).

Even if I compile and load the latest version I'm not getting anything more than 54 Mbps (802.11g) speed using WPA-Personal, Channel Width Auto 20/40 MHz, Best (automatic) Transmission Rate and Auto Channel Scan on the router with mixed mode 802.11n and 802.11g. 802.11g is enabled so that my wife and I can use our mobile phones on the wireless network as well...

Using the same hardware configuration (multi-boot) and the same DWA-140 rev. B1 adapter I'm getting 270 Mbps on Windows XP SP3.

Would updating to 1.31EUB02 makes any difference on this matter ?

Question 3: Will there be any issues upgrading from firmware 1.11EU to 1.31EUB02 on this router ?

Question 4: Is there any other firmware version I could use which would be better in this case ?
(I'm NOT using any BETA versions!!!).
