Can't access dlinkrouter.local.
« on: February 05, 2021, 12:59:02 PM »

Hello everyone, I've been trying to connect on my main computer to "https://dlinkrouter.local.", but I can't get it to work.

Here's some bullets points on what you should know or what I already tried:
  • I can access it through my older computer which is completely clean of programs (connected to 2.4GHz)
  • I tried rebooting on safe mode with networking On
  • I reset the the networks but it seems all VPN connections are still there (Proton VPN and Nord VPN)
  • I ran the diagnosis on all my connections. It says it seems I have access. Then I input a specific site "https://dlinkrouter.local." and it said it seems it's either a Security or Firewall setting that might be blocking the connection
  • Then I tried to shutdown my Firewall as well as Windows Defender
  • Pretty much all my privacy settings are off
  • I tried using my main browser (Firefox) with security extensions, but I also tried with chrome and Edge and it still can't access it

I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Link>Welcome!

What product model do you have?

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Does 192.168.0.1 or .1.1 work?

Hi, the model is Dir-850L with latest firmware 2.23 HW B1 in Canada.

Additional note to my previous post. I can access the dlinkrouter.local. via my phone which kind of solves my problem (because I want to sell my other laptop).

Still curious though on why my main computer can't access it.

Does the recovery mode work and can you reload FW using the recovery mode?

I haven't tried, but why would it work on other devices and not my main?

Even though I disabled VPNs and FWs I feel like it's somewhat related.

Sounds more like an issue with the computer than the router.

Just for something to try:

Open up a command prompt with administrator privileges (right click run as admin) or powershell window as admin.
type ipconfig /flushdns
into the window and see if clearing out the DNS helps.

I ran a tracert:

Code: [Select]
C:\WINDOWS\system32>tracert www.google.com

Tracing route to www.google.com [172.217.13.132]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 14 ms 13 ms 9 ms 104-163-173-97.qc.cable.ebox.net [104.163.173.97]
2 9 ms 7 ms 11 ms 10.170.192.53
3 10 ms 11 ms 8 ms 0.et-5-2-0.er1.mtl7.yul.ebox.ca [96.127.240.41]
4 10 ms 9 ms 10 ms 0.ae17.er2.mtl3.yul.ebox.ca [96.127.249.26]
5 10 ms 9 ms 15 ms as15169.pni.yul.ebox.ca [96.127.240.34]
6 10 ms 12 ms 13 ms 108.170.251.1
7 10 ms 13 ms 12 ms 108.170.231.53
8 10 ms 10 ms 10 ms yul02s05-in-f4.1e100.net [172.217.13.132]

Trace complete.

That's what a tech support told me:

Quote
For some reason it doesn't seem to be routing internally. Unfortunately I am not familiar with this router, I don't know how the "Cloud-Based" functionality works.

Theoretically when you run a tracert it should contact your router first and then go out to your internet. It should also allow you to access other devices inside your network.

It looks like your PC is bypassing your internal network completely. It looks like it is going straight out to your provider.

Maybe someone could help with this info?

So if you disconnect the router from the modem, connect 1 wired PC the router, press the reset button for 10 seconds, can you access the routers web page at all at 192.192.168.0.1?
Does the PC get an IP address from the router at all? 192.168.0.something?
