IR LEDs are dead....
« on: February 10, 2017, 08:55:45 PM »

DCS-2630L has been running almost a year.  IR LEDs have gone dead.  Picture is black at night but can see things when there is light.  For instance, it can see the light emitting from a flashlight but while in night mode but nothing else.

Tech support asked me to do a factory reset on this camera.  I won't be on site until March so that has to wait.  However, i wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, did the factory reset fix the problem?

Firmware is 1.04 and has been since November.  Emitters went dark in late January.

So far so good here with my 2630L.. it's always in night mode unless I turn on my kitchen main light...

It does have that extra long thick usb cable... same as my original 960l usb cable (later ones were thing and only 3 feet?)

To be clear, I have two different 2630L cams and both have worked well.  One still properly illuminates while in night mode.  It is just one that went bad about 3 weeks ago.  However, I was curious if anyone has had this problem and if a factory reset really fixed the problem as they suggested it might.  My gut feeling is that it is broken and will need to be repaired or replaced.

The factory reset is recommended after a FW update has been completed so that old configurations and settings have been fully cleared. I would try a reset and set up the camera from scratch and see if the problem continues or now.
