Title: Unreliable Operation
Post by: seedar on January 20, 2015, 01:53:01 PM
Hi,

I am having many issues setting up the DCS-7010L and getting unpredictable results.

Email notifications:
When I use google servers to send email the test works correctly, email arrives but I never receive the corresponding event emails even though the event is triggered and yes the, event, media and server entries are linked correctly. Also when I use a different email server where the emails do get through, I am only getting alarm emails with no images - just a log file even though it is supposed to send 3 images. This was working but stopped when I added a second event to store video to the SD card. I even tried removing the second event for SD card and it still wont work.

What am I doing wrong ? Is this camera and firmware reliable and I have just made some config error or do others have these issues ?

Also mentioned in my previous post when reading emails when images were included Apple Mail often shows one of the images as corrupt :-(

thanks,
Seedar.

I am having the same issue, motion detected as shown by the indicator in "live video" but no emails (although my iphone shows a motion detected) under any notification settings.

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

Hi FurryNutz

Thanks for the reply.

I'll gather the info you've requested but I have had this all working ok until a solid red light came on after a couple of days use.

Be right back.

 Hardware version is A1
Firmware was 1.03 updated to 1.06
 Region = London, England

Host router = Sagemcom 2704N
Wireless modes = Not sure but this copied from device info...
Connection Mode    Infrastructure
Link   Yes
SSID   PLUSNET-R3KJXT
Channel   1
Encryption   WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK

Distance between the Camera and the main host router = 10 Metres, No walls or major electrical stuff in line.

Hope that helps
Cheers, Dave

Can you test the camera at a closer distance to the main host router to see if the problem still happens?

Factory reset the camera if you didn't after the upgrade and set up and test once more..

I don't understand why I should be changing any router settings.

I've done a factory reset and reinstalled on phone, set motion sensing and have live video and confirmation that motion is being detected by icon in live video and receive notification on phone.
I've just moved the camera to within 3 feet of the router.
Set and tested email notification for snapshot and received test email ok.
Snapshot is ticked and trigger by set to motion, single SS, target email.

Still Nothing!

It Just worked!  ONCE!

Now if I wave my hand in front of the lens it may send a phone notice or a phone notice AND an email but mostly not.

Was it working when you had v1.03 installed?

Yes but only had that running for a day or two then updated as message kept coming up on phone.

Might test it out for a few days, if it still seems to not work right, call your regional D-Lick support office as ask for help and information on this.

Thanks

I'm trying to make my mind up as to phone or just send it back.
I have an EasyN that's been in my garage doing a great job for the last two years. It just Works!
So far I'm much less than pleased. I expected DLink to be a much better, easier to set up option.

It would be good to ask them for help. Could be something minor...
