DAP 1360 issue 8192c firmware
« on: October 27, 2013, 06:27:37 AM »

Hi,

Recently I bought D-link DAP 1360, but I have some problems with my internet connection. I configured the device to function as "repeater", but after a few hours I lose the signal. When I access the control panel I see the same error in log system "8192c firmware".

If I reset the device and I reconfigure, works again, but again after a while I lose the signal.

Any solution for this?

The firmware of the device is:

Hardware Version=C1
Firmware Version=3.02

I did write exceive about issues with the DAP 1360.

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53373.0

I found that the only solution to the problem was using a power timer, to power cycle the device about every 6h that way it works. The problem is that this will "fix" the problem but you have to wait for the timer to kick in and do it's job.

That said, the unit does function a bit better when used as a standard AP, so one solution for you is to use a network cable, install that instead of using it as a repeater.

Dennis, do you think the 1360 could be effected by this?

FurryNutz, oh, THANKS.

I do know the old DWL-G700AP chip (realtek) got crazy hot, i did a thermal glue and heatsink on it to keep it cool. I remember you almost burned your fingers the chip got so hot, they where older larger realtek chip.

https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=46334

A picture, those chips should not get that hot, but I have now opened the unit and running in on idle. I have Rev.C1 and now firmware v3.04b1 and the two chips in the unit are almost cold to the touch, they do not need any heat sink, with traffic over the unit, that could produce some more heat but it should be marginal as the cpu (or chips) in the unit probably are running at full speed.

So perhaps, if D-link people did read these forums, some of the errors could be fixed.

Anyway the "8192c firmware" error I got too, my guess is there is error in the coding by D-link, it can not be realtek drivers, or busybox and so on. Those things work.

You could try firmware v3.04 (they say there is not specific fix in the information) but they could have changed or fixed a lot of things, but do not put that down as information for the consumer.

Ezink, I think you should upgrade to the latest firmware.

I did that a few days ago and still going strong now, seems a lot of things have been changed of fixed in the latest firmware. Or reworked somehow.

Anyone with HW_C1 of DAP-1360 should immediately upgrade to the firmware v3.04b1 as this one does not seem so suffer from the errors below. This is what makes the unit crash and then has to be rebooted by killing the power to the unit. A serious flaw in a product, other wise minor errors problems is to be expected.

rlx-linux user.warn kernel: 8192c firmware not ready
rlx-linux user.warn kernel: ===> Load_92c_Firmware
rlx-linux user.warn kernel: <=== Load_92c_Firmware

FurryNutz, thanks for updating that post, should say it is important to update, as it fixes major errors that otherwise will make the unit crash from time to time. I am really happy with the units now, working like a charm.

The only errors or "information" that the two units produce other than what can be expected are the messages:

"D3 hot -> L1" and "wlan0: Delete MC entry not found!" but I do not thing this is nothing to worry about. It just seems to be some information regarding functions not in use, or left over when creating the firmwares for the units, like left over code in html pages etc. Plus the units www interface feels much faster now with the v3.04b1 firmware, probably because they fixed the serious problems with the linux kernel. Real solid and fast now.

You should stress more in the thread that people should upgrade, it is important (and easy to do).

I will get back to this forum later to make a new post about the firmware.
