Router Info: DIR-890L HW:A1 FW:1.08
Features -> Firewall Settings -> IPv4 Rules
1) Click Add Rule
2) Name: HTTP
Source IP Address Range: WAN 1.1.1.1-255.255.255.255
Destination IP Address Range: LAN 192.168.0.10
Port Range: TCP 80
Schedule: Always Enable
3) Hit Apply Button
4) The Rule shows up in the table as you would expect.
5) Hit Save Button
6) Rule disappears!
Remaining rules are 15 so its definitely gone!
-
How many rules do you have set up currently?
-
I created only one rule. It says I have Remaining: 15 when I start. I create the rule and it says I have Remaining: 14, but when I click Save button it doesn't save and deletes the single rule.
-
As an experiment I created a new schedule.
Management -> Time & Schedule -> Schedule:
1) Create Rule
2) Select All days and times
3) Apply Button
The new "All Time" schedule is saved correctly. It says I have Remaining: 9 so it worked. I went back to the firewall and created the same rule listed above but when I click the Save button it still deletes it.
-
The computer I am using to administrate the router is a desktop Windows XP using Google Chrome browser and connecting wired through the LAN port.
-
What happens if you do a factory reset, walk thru the set up wizard, then do directly into create the firewall rule first then create the schedule? Symptom maybe similar to QoS configurations not working after a period of time. Try using IE or FF.

I did the factory reset. Completed the router initialization/configuration. Went right to Firewall Settings and followed the steps in my first post and the result was the same. The rule is deleted when you hit the Save button.

Would you mind loading v1.09 FW and testing the same process please?
-
1) The last version Internet Explorer is 8 for Windows XP which does not work with the TDlink administrative tool.
2) Tried the same thing with Firefox version 42.0 and the same thing happens, the rule is deleted when you save it.

Do you have a Windows 7 or 10 PC to test with? ???
-
I will continue working on this tomorrow. Thank you for your assistance debugging the router.
-
I'll have a look on mine with Windows 7 when I get home. I'll try your input values and post results. ;) I wonder if that is a invalid configuration and the router doesn't like it. ???
-
Ok, I can confirm this by entering the same values, selecting Add, the rule is displayed as a row, the rule count goes down from 24 to 23. When I select Save, the displayed rule is no longer listed on the page and the available rule count goes back up to 24. Windows 7 x64 and IE11. I'll have D-Link review this and check for any configuration behavior.

All of the PCs that are connected to this router are Windows XP 32-bit operating system.
-
OK. I've confirmed this on a Windows 7 PC. I'll forward this on to D-Link for review. Please be patient.
Thank you.

Upgraded the firmware to the new beta version: DIR-890L HW:A1 FW:1.09.
After the firmware upgrade I did a factory default reset to the router. I completed the setup initialization of the router. Clicked on Firewall -> IPv4 Rules. The Remaining rules on the bottom of the screen changed from 15 to 24.
1) I create the rule listed above and it changes from Remaining 24 to 23 and lists the rule I created in the table.
2) I click the Save button and the rule I created is deleted and Remaining goes from 23 back to 24.
The upgraded beta firmware doesn't appear to correct the issue.

So typically how long does one have to wait to hear a response from D-Link on router issues?
-
If you emailed them, not sure. I really recommend using Phone contact to get more immediate help and information. ;)
-
I am running into the same issue. I have contacted D-Link for support and I'm awaiting any solution they may have.
This is important for me because I use the rules to turn off internet access using the firewall & not the parental controls. PC works...but if your kids figure out how easy it is to spoof a MAC address & pick up a free IP address from DHCP, then PC is worthless. I set up a range of 7 addresses for my wife's and my gear...static the IPs, then set those on one rule to Always Allow. All other IPs on my network are turned off via rule at the designated time.
Hope they get this fixed. 1.09 firmware made it so this doesn't work anymore.
