Hey guys, is there a sub forum that discusses structured wiring such as installs, CAT5E termination etc?  Or maybe another good forum?

Such a NOOB.  :P

Ahhh, ok, thanks Harry.

Speed seems much better this morning, I think there was just a lot of traffic congestion.

EDIT: UPDATE:  Harry, you effing ROCK, brother!  That was my speed issue!  Odd that it didn't do that with that Ubee modem.  All is good in the world.

Crimp crimp crimp. I've had my unfair share of structured wiring.

In case you missed it (not that this was terribly exciting), when I hit "1337" posts I encountered an Easter egg. The D-Link forum translated the "1337" to "leet" (i.e. elite) in my profile and board postings. Same way the emoticons are translated.

Okay I posted it, hopefully it is understandable.  I diagram would have made it easier to understand!

Hey, not so fast, potato boy!  :P  The Ooma instructions said it could be wired either way....after the modem or after the router.  Initially, it worked fine in between the modem and router, I swear!  :D

Very cool!  I wonder if they have other Easter Eggs like that.

Have any of you seen the Gears Of War 2 one with the toaster?  Funny!

OK, handshake!  I guess that's what I'm looking for.  LOL

I did an online provision through Charter on this new-to-me SB6120 but wireless download speeds aren't very good.  I'm getting about 3-5mbps when I usually get 12-20mbps.

Is there a restart sequence?  I have the modem connected to my Ooma Telo which then goes into my DGL-4500.  With my old Ubee modem, I get speeds where they needed to be.  I wonder if I should call Charter?

Look at the difference I get this morning but oddly it chose a Ft. Worth server:

And a: couple others:

Remembering 9/11
« Reply #761 on: September 11, 2011, 10:09:50 AM »

I'm watching all the memorial services and mention of the day.

Then it occurred to me.  Are we giving the terrorists more credence by making a big deal of this?  I thought of it this way:  A bully beats you up in grade school.  Then every year you mention how the bully beat you up and keep bringing it to memory.  It's like the bringing of attention to it and making a big deal out of it is just what the bully wants.

Of course I respect the memory of the deceased.  It was a horrific act and all terrorists are cowards to take innocent lives.  It's to that end that I don't want them to gloat in the glory of their act.  I know that you can't honor the fallen without recalling the terrorists.

Maybe it's the French/German in me but I want the terrorists to be quietly hunted down and killed like dogs.

What bothers me the most is that we let it happen and could have been prevented. Hide sight is sooooo 20/20.
Anyways, we got Bin Ladin.  I was happy for that. I do agree, It's happened, we recovered. I'm sick of the media coverage...Lets move on. No need to keep talking about it. Let's not let it happen again!

OK now, so hows those routers doing? Good I hope. Have a good weekend everyone.

For the respect of the fallen, I will keep my specific opinion on this for another day.

What I will say is memorial services are one thing, the 24/7 press coverage is something else. I know a few people who lost family or friends in the attack. They tell me they hate watching the coverage. Very few people who lost a loved one likes to see the act of that loved one killed (the planes hitting the towers) over and over and over. I don't see that as "paying them respect". I see that as the rest of us entertaining our natural, but morbid curiosity of death. I see it as the Press getting ratings. I see it as a reason to sell more yellow ribbon bumper stickers. But I guess that is how our nation handles situations out of the norm. They simplify them, and departmentalize them into issues their small minds can grasp. Good guys win, bad guys go to jail, and in the end, England Prevails!

Same as every year on this day, NYC was more quiet than usual. Car and pedestrian traffic were well below normal and not much going on except the WTC memorial services down in the financial district.

Now. . . back to business. Bring on the tech issues!
