Waking from Sleep Problems
« on: January 10, 2008, 06:24:37 AM »

My DWA-142 does not wake up after the computer has been to sleep. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in (or disable and then enable it). My previous USb wireless adapter had the same problem, but a Microsoft patch and Registry edit fixed it. After I upgraded to the DWA-142, the patch and Registry change don't help.

I have been hoping for updated Vista drivers as a possible solution. Vista isn't exactly new any more, so I think it is pretty inexcusable that there isn't a non-beta Vista driver. I even tried Vista SP1 to see if it would fix the problem, but to no avail.

The computer is a home entertainment PC, so letting it sleep when not in use is critical.

I am having the same probem with XP after upgrading to the 1.20 drivers.  I didn't have that problem with the drivers that came with the adapter.

Having same problem.

Vista Ultimate. 32-bit.
Wake from sleep with v1.0.4.3 Marvel D-link rangebooster N USB driver. (downloaded from windows update)

Does not reconnect.

While the computer is sleeping, the activity light on the usb wireless adapter is going crazy. But once it wakes, it goes silent.
Rebooting is the only thing i found that works. Disabling/Renabling it didn't.
Didn't try disconnecting/reconnecting the usb cable.

But this is a big problem. I'm basically going to have to configure my computer to not sleep, as other users won't know that they have to reboot after waking it to get network access.

I contacted D-Link technical support and they replied with this:

" Go to device manager (My computer> Properties>Hardware> Device Manager) and select your wireless network adapter properties and select power management tab.

Under this make sure that Allow this computer to to turn off this device to save power is unchecked."

Unfortunately, under my DWA-142 properties, there is no Power Management tab.  I did not have this problem before I upgraded my driver to 1.20 Beta.  Does anyone have the 1.01 driver?

Hopefully the new 1.30 driver will solve the problem.

Changing this option does NOT solve the problem.

D-Link - please provide support.

Thank you.
