Title: Add-on "Transmission v.2.84 (14307)" for D-Link NAS
Post by: vtverdohleb on December 24, 2014, 07:04:38 AM
[Add-on] Transmission v.2.84 (14307)

[Description]
Transmission is a BitTorrent client which features a simple interface on top of a cross-platform back-end.
Transmission allows users to download files from the Internet and upload their own files or torrents. By grabbing items and adding them to the interface, users can create queues of files to be downloaded and uploaded. Within the file selection menus, users can customise their downloads down to components of individual files. Transmission also seeds—that is, it can re-upload downloaded content.

hi, I have install transmission by fun_plug 0.7. Can I install this app as well? Or I have to uninstall the previous transmission first? Thanks.

Not necessarily. Enough to make a shell
Code: [Select]
chmod a-x /ffp/start/transmission.sh and reboot NAS. Then you can install and start the addon Transmission.

hi, thank you for the last post. I have installed the addon, but i have two problems now. First, the transmission is not able to connect to torrent server, thus download speed is 0. Second, I cannot access the config.php of the transmission. "Unauthorized" is the only thing i can see from the config page..

You have encryption turned on? Try to disable.

To manage the NAS you are using http://ip_nas or https://ip_nas ? In config.php check HTTP_REFERER.

For the life of me transmission keeps telling me that the port i'm using is closed, i can still download but it was very slow (5 kb/s) and upload speed is non-existent even though i already setup my DIR-655 router's UPNP to enabled and configured transmission to use UPNP! I even setup port forwarding to transmission, to my NAS (DNS-320L) and my router (DIR-655) and still the damn thing keeps telling me its closed!  and my downloads are super slow. unlike if i use the default torrent downloader of DNS-320L it just works plus the download speed goes to 300 kb/s and upload speed goes to 70 kb/s! there's something really wrong with this add-on.

the reason why i'm using this is because the default torrent downloader doesn't have a proper gui and i cannot add trackers. other than that it beats the Transmission downloader when it comes to speed.

1. You need to check the settings of the Transmission. I recommend to disable Encryption. As you can see in the picture I have everything working, the download speed of ~5KBytes/s.
2. Check for new version DNS-320L Transmission Package v1.11.3_02052015 (http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/DNS-320L%20Transmission%20Package%20v1.11.3_02052015_UA)

The nas in the DMZ is something dangerous, I use shared folders. Apparently the upnp is not working, isnt it? Do you have more recommendations?

Being new to add ons, I tried installing Transmission. After a successful installation, i get this error:
403: Forbidden

Unauthorized IP Address.

Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.

If you're editing settings.json, see the 'rpc-whitelist' and 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' entries.

If you're still using ACLs, use a whitelist instead. See the transmission-daemon manpage for details.

can anyone help me here?

TIA

This warnings appears because torrent file has in trackers list inaccessible tracker (or retracker.local  not available in your network). When you delete this inaccessible tracker from trackers list, warnings disappears.

Hi, I am having similar problems, been using the transmission addon for a while now, last week I decided to upgrade my main hard drive so I replaced it and started from scratch, updated firmware to 1.04b12 while I was at it. After I finish setting everything up and started using transmission I noticed I was getting very slow download speeds, they don't go up from 50 kb/s, so I used the same torrent on my windows PC and the speed was fine, maxing my dsl speed. So i know it must be related to transmission, to confirm it I installed rutorrent and it is working fine, downloading at max speed. I don't know what to do. Maybe it has something to do with the new firmware?.

P.S. Using DNS-320L. I already check if encryption was turned off and ports are open.

Thanks.

This bug has older versions of the add-on when using HTTPS. On HTTP everything is OK.
Use the new version
DNS-320L Transmission Package v1.11.3_02052015_UA (http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/DNS-320L%20Transmission%20Package%20v1.11.3_02052015_UA)

Router: DIR 850L
NAS: DNS 320L

Okay. I was able to get the Transmission web gui up and running. However, While I was trying to start torrents,

1) There's no incoming/outgoing traffic
1) It appears that the program is trying to save the files on my computer. How do i make it save stuff to Volume_1 of my NAS instead?

I'm just a noob who wants to use my DNS 320L to seed my existing torrents. Help, anyone? :(

(TIA)

Add Torrent / Download Dir:
/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Transmission/complete = \\IP_nas\Volume_1\Transmission\complete

* Detailed Description of your Issue: after a period of downloading, it seems to hangs my NAS. i could not go into NAS admin and could not launch transmission web ui. I have to do a hard reboot.

In 99% of cases the problem is related to the very high workload of NAS resources. Probably much exceeded the number of connections (of peers/seeders). And apparently at the same time actively working to some other programs. NAS is not "hangs", it is simply not enough resources for the generation and impact the administration pages.
The remaining 1% is a hardware problem with the NAS or HDD.
In the first case the problem can partially be solved addon v1.13 (http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/current.php?package=Transmission&model=DNS-340L). It is possible for a Transmission to put a lower priority, which will give more resources to the web administration interface. And of course I recommend to make a number of connections less than 200.

Upgraded to 1.13, sets limits as recommended, runs transmission for awhile without seeding/downloading, same issue occurs.

Downgraded to use transmission 1.0 (built in p2p sharing application) and still encountered the same problem.

So probably the problem is not the software. Possible HDD failure or incompatibility.
Have you tried alternative P2P clients? For example Deluge, MLDonkey, rutorrent. Them observed the same problem?

Sorry all but I cannot even Launch the app. I downloaded the app and loaded it but it just will not launch. I don't even know where to begin on the config!

Could it be because currently my sharecenter p2p has stopped working? It use to work but now doesn't and I have no idea why.

Sorry, I'm new to add-ons on my 320L, so this might be me, but when launching the interface I get the same 403 error as above:
403: Forbidden

Unauthorized IP Address.

Either disable the IP address whitelist or add your address to it.

If you're editing settings.json, see the 'rpc-whitelist' and 'rpc-whitelist-enabled' entries.

If you're still using ACLs, use a whitelist instead. See the transmission-daemon manpage for details.

I have checked under Configure and the rpc whitelist settings are already set as "rpc-whitelist": *.*.*.* and "rpc-whitelist-enabled": true, and I have installed v1.13 but it still won't launch

The link it is trying to open it at is https://[ip_of_NAS]:9091/?pass=admin

I managed to fix my problem by 'turning it off and on again'!

Specifically, I disabled Transmission in Application Management, then re-enabled it and re-configured rpc-whitelist and it has opened successfully

Hi! Thanks for the awesome job to keep the add-on updated.

I got the 320L. I installed the transmission add-on provided on the D-Link support page, quite obsolete I know. I want to update now but I don't want to lose the progress/torrents I already have on it, any recommendations on how to update it? My idea is to disable the add-on then upload the new one then re enable, if that doesn't work I will have to remove the old one then install the up-to-date one.

Any ideas/recommendations?

Done, all looks aright, I just wished you guys told me the add-ons in the forums come with passwords. I've been breaking my head to a wall for like 2 hours trying to figure it out what was wrong with my NAS, I even updated the firmware and created a new user account.

Thanks for the info, even tho it had little to do to what I just said I think you just quoted me to bring this to my attention. Sucks indeed, too bad D-link wants to save a few dollars because I'm pretty sure they know once this is in motion the community will take over. Still a **** move.

Once I get my next check I will run to spare a few bucks.

I can only guess. From guesswork - in the configuration you have to allow access from anywhere on the network.
But that "subtlety" Transmission setting and does not apply to the / add-on bugs!
