Title: Why is so slow while I copy file to a storage
Post by: popkrab on December 18, 2010, 01:34:05 AM
I use DNS 343 with WD 1.5TB x 4 with RAID 5 configuration. I try to copy many file, small medium or large files. transfer rate to the storage is around 1.2-6 MB/s. Is this normal? If there is not normal, can anyone suggest me what I have to check? THis transfer rate are same when I use WIndows XP or Windows 7 with 1 GBPS network.

This is very very slow. If I copy same files from my note book to my PC files server with 1 Gbps network. It has 20-30 MB/s. It is so different.

How are you testing your speed on the windows XP system ??
I find the FTP server(pure-FTPPd) will only run 5MB/sec for some reason - a regular file copy will run between 20-30 MB/s ..

Thank you for your help. Firstly, I feel very very slow. So, I can see transfer rate as I attached file on the topic. Do you have another good idea to measure transfer rate?

I don't know what I'm wrong.

Thank you very much.
