DNS-323 won't connect to one computer but connects to others
« on: October 14, 2018, 10:16:21 PM »

This is weird. There was a power failure in the recent hurricane and it took out the UPS that my DNS-323 was plugged into. After I got everything running again all is well except my laptop won't connect to the 323.

It's all very strange, two desktops (wired) connect to it just fine. If I type the IP address into the laptop I can log into the 323 but the Easyseach tool doesn't see it.

All three computers are running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. The 323 is running firmware version 1.06 and I'm hesitant to update it as it was working fine before.

I also connected the laptop directly to the network, unplugging one of the desktops so the laptop has EXACTLY the same connection. This time the Easyseach tool saw the 323 but it still wouldn't map it, I'd either get a "Failed to map the drive" error or a "Please select device in above section", even if I'd selected a device.

I don't know where to go from here, any suggestions?

Thanks!

I would presume this tool your using on the one laptop would need to be looked into more.

Don't mess with the NAS firmware it will not change anything.

Check that all your win 10 computers are at the same update level - if the laptop is at a different level check that it is set to use SMB/CIFS at v1.  Microsoft changed the default from SMB v1 to SMB v2 which the NAS does not understand.

The other thing to check is that the IP address of the laptop hasn't changed and is in the same subnet as the desktop computers and the NAS.
