DCS-5222L led solid red
« on: October 10, 2018, 08:04:00 AM »

Hey, i have a probleme, my DCS-5222L have a red solid led. I tried to reset it but nothing changes. it is connected to the router with an ethernet cable, I'm sure that the port and ethernet cable work well.
if I continuously press the reset button for more than 9 seconds the led does not change color. I tried with and without the ethernet cable plugged in, nothing changes.
you would have ideas of what I could do?
thanks in advance,
Jean

Check the power adapter voltage and amps at the tip. Should be same as listed on the sticker. If the adapter is good, possible the camera is bad.  :-\

Thank you so much for your quick response, the power cable is the original one. In spite of everything, can it be the cause of the problem ?

Anything is possible. I would try a different power supply that has same values to see if you can find one.

You can try seeing if you can reach the recovery mode:
Emergency Recovery Mode
Not sure if this camera supports this mode or not...Last resort.  :-\

I have two model dcs-5222l, with their two power cable, neither of them work, even by swapping their cable. Both cameras have both a solid red led no matter what happens. But I'm afraid I can not find a third power cable that fit.
I have already tested the emergency recovery mode, unable to find the camera at the address indicated (192.168.0.20) ...

Have you had the cameras for the same amount of time. I don't think both power adapters would fail at the same time. So you have two cameras that show RED?

You think I have to persevere to find a solution, or it is very possible that the cameras are both out of order, although it is just as unlikely ?

You can try this but it is a pain. Taken from an FAQ on the DLink UK site.

Crash Recovery:  IP Cameras DCS-5222L Ax Bx - DCS-2332L - DCS-2132L Ax Bx - DCS-2310L - DCS-6010L - DCS-7010L - DCS-2136L - DCS-2330L - DCS-2332L.

1. Plug a microSD card to your computer. Format it in FAT32. Once formatted, create a folder called "upgrade".
2. Download the latest firmware from support.dlink.com. Unzip and rename the file update.bin. Then copy to the upgrade folder on the microSD card.
3. Turn off the camera (remove the power cord) and insert the microSD into the slot provided.
4. Press and hold the reset button (for example use a paper-clip)
5. Plug the power cord into the device whilst holding down the reset button for about 3 seconds, until the red LED starts flashing. Immediately release the reset button.
6. Wait 140-160 seconds until the camera completes the process of recovery of the firmware without removing the power cord.
7. At the end of the process the LED will stop flashing and turn green.
8. At this point, remove the power cord and remove the MicroSD card.

I tested the restoration technique with the microSD card ... It did not work  :'(
I saw that if I pressed the reset button before connecting the camera, the blue led lit, less than a second, but turned on before giving way to the red led. Is this a progress? Although the results do not change, I can not connect to a network for the moment.
I ask myself a new question, in the recovery mode, I must "Configure your computer to 192.168.0.x" I'm not sure what it means, maybe that's why this procedure does not not work, it is possible that I do not do it properly. So if you had more information I am a taker. My computer is on Windows10 if it can help you.

Ok, I must admit that I am pretty defeatist for the future of my two DCS-5222L. So, if I wanted to buy two new cameras that would advise you? My goal is to monitor two indoor gates and then I want to record video rushes on a personal server, not the manufacturer's cloud, for example. So I need a night vision and a motion detection proper, and most importantly, a great compatibility with other surveillance camera management software, for this last point, I understood that D-Link was rather strong, I am wrong ?

I thought I would use the ZoneMinder software for management, I already check that it supports the D-Link model, but I think you may have some advice to give me.  :)
