Slow/choppy recording to SD card after a few seconds?
« on: August 18, 2018, 12:15:00 PM »

I am recording motion on my 2630L to its built in SD card reader to a 128GB MicroSD card. The recording works just fine, as do the motion alerts. However, when I go to view the recorded video, it plays perfectly fluid @780p for the first 3 seconds, then drops to like 1 frame per second (people walking look like they are stop motion)  and continues for the duration of the recording. I tried viewing the videos directly via the myDlink app and through the web interface and they both do this. Any settings to check?

well viewing on the phone and mac computer from the web based camera interface, both show choppy video. I will take a look at the settings again, but I feel like the camera is recording the video that way, and its not a viewing issue on my devices. like I said, the videos start out perfect, then get choppy.

Have you tried playing from the sd card directly?
Such as power down the camera, remove the sd card and insert in phone or reader on computer.

If playback is smooth in direct mode, then possible network or router wifi issue.
If still choppy, maybe sd card compatible issue.
DLink cameras (imo) do not like sandisk (or kingston even though they are factory suggested), and usually need class 6 to 10 or better.
Maybe try a different sd card brand like transcend or lexar or sony.

If that doesn't work, then maybe try adjusting the settings in the local web url (not the mydlink website interface), or updating/reflashing the firmware.

((These settings worked for my 2630 to reduce the 'stop motion animation'
choppiness. They may or may not work for your camera.))
Settings for local url; make all video profiles 720p/1080p 20/15fps at 1.5mbps, h.264 if available, jpeg to 'better' (not 'excellent'), set sd card to record from the profile 1 in h.264, shorten video record segments to 55 seconds with 5 seconds pre-record.[/size]
