DIR 879 - Rebooting time process
« on: August 04, 2018, 01:05:02 PM »

Hi everyone, hope to get some advise here.
I hace a DIR-879 that in the last 3 months has been working totally wierd. It has been dropping and losing conection.
I have already installed its most recently firmware, eventhough, the same problems continued.
I tried many times to reboot it to factory settings. I have done the 10 seconds  reset button technique and also the 30/30/30s, however it just entres into a blinking orange light and keeps blinking for hours and nothing happens.
Could anyone she me some light on that?
Thanks

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

I would try to get to the recovery mode and re-load initial FW back on the router:
Emergency Recovery Mode
If this fails, you need to phone contact D-Link support...

30-30-30 resets do not work on D-Link routers. Please follow this for doing any FW updates:

Have you already contacted the customer support to try for RMA?  Not saying that will solve cause i am on my sendond RMA device and my issues are still not resolved.. But you might have better luck.

If you do get RMA approval.. keep in mind you have to pay for shipping your device there.. and if you do a cross send (both ends sending the device) there is a LARGE deposit (in my case 3x the price of the device) so i went a different route...

Anyway, just some things to think about as well...

Cross shipping is a feature. You only get charged if you don't send the 1st unit back. I've done this a couple of times. Nice to have if you don't have a back up router or device. Also most mfrs have the user pay for one way shipping. It's not just D-Link.  ::)
