Title: Firmware 1.08
Post by: jpref on December 07, 2016, 07:51:51 PM
latest release, v 1.08 nearly killed my camera. it would drop nightly after unplugging for 30 seconds, and MyDlink App would show it disconnected. Also, the "local" no longer worked to see the camera. No support on this model anymore, nice to phase this out this way. Also tried to factory reset , but app began crashing and also would sometimes crash when configuring the initial setup.

Fixed it by downloading a 1.06 firmware and then applying through the web console admin. Device rebooted and applied and now have local back. May try to manual upgrade to 1.08 after it stabilizes for a couple days so i have a rollback option. These cameras are becoming obsolete but they still work well.

anyone else have any issues like this ?

Currently v1.06 is the most recent and current version recommended for the 825L:

Where did you get v1.08 from?

I can confirm the same as jpref, the upgrade to 1.08 it breaks the local dlink-app connection,
BUT - for some reason using VLC for local connection still works...

you can downgrade to 1.06 but it then messes up the preconfigured remote-dlink-cloud connection I had set up
(looks like you may have to re-set it up once you downgrade to 1.06)

Since I wanted added security I rolled it back to 1.08 again and used VLC to stream the local connection...
(which fixed my remote-cloud connection automatically which was nice but killed the local-dlink-app part once again)
- for some reason using VLC for local connection still works at 1.08.... but NOT for local dlink apps
- not sure why...

used this on local VLC "rtsp://admin:xxxxxx@10.10.10.10:554/play1.sdp"

after troubleshooting upgrade/downgrade, i also saw in a post here that 1.08 v1 was released publicly and i was able to apply it to the camera.
i can now at least register it on a remote connection to mydlink cloud. it doesnt appear in the local cameras when using the app, but this is a lot less of an issue as its typically slower anyway. ill xpost it in the observations.

Ok so when your at home or at the local site, the app doesn't display the LOCAL camera at all? I know there was an issue a few months back that LOCAL cameras would not appear on the app for about 1-2 minutes then would appear. Just took a while.

What version of the app are you using and iPhone or Android?

Camera app also doesn't show in local mode , but OWLR has no problem picking it up and connecting so that's a workaround for now. I also like the OWLR app as it shows both cameras I have in local mode on the same screen when the app starts. So my guess is something is missing in the app itself.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. I would give them the mydlink device number and reference this forum thread as well. This needs to be reviewed by D-Link support.  We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
