Ubooquity
« on: March 28, 2016, 09:26:52 AM »

Hi !
Thanks for this good software that i find !
But the software is unusable! It does not back up the parameters of configurations and the database, everything is erased in the restart... Furthermore, this one is created by default in the root of the NAS, and the size of the file cannot be too important at the risk of saturating the available space.
Finally, when Ubooquity is installed, I do not reach any more the network reader who rose under Windows...
Has anybody a solution or is it possible to develop a new version of this addon please ?!!...
I tried to install it with fun_plug, but i can't install JAVA, i have the message : java : command not find... I did not find reliable procedure and which works...
Thanks for your help !!
Best Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but i have already contacted the Mfr, and here is his answer:

Installation directory (where you put Ubooquity.jar) and working directory are not necessarily the same. It depends on where you launch Ubooquity from.
Running any application in a system directory is not a good idea, your working directory should be a user directory you have created somewhere in your own files (not the OS files), and for which the user running Ubooquity has writing permission.
To do that you can either "cd" in your working directory before launching Ubooquity, or use the "-workdir" command line option: it allows you to specify where Ubooquity should create its own files (database, logs, preferences, cache, etc).

Furthermore, he says that it is not him who created the addon for Dlink...
You can find the exchanges to : http://ubooquity.userecho.com/topics/236-ubooquity-dont-save-settings/

Best regards.
Ponch.

The problem addon, Mfr than can help in this regard?
You require disqualification me to post on this forum, so I try as little as possible to write here. But your advice on the add-ons do not make sense, so I decided to write.
Thank you "Ponch", tooltip "-workdir" helped a bit, although not dramatically. I tested the new version with Ubooquity v1.9.1 - after the Stop/Start and Reboot the content is not lost. The addon will gather on these days, but it will be paid. Work on the popularization of the D-Link free, when I was a negative attitude of the staff and trustees D-Link, I will not.

I'll revert to not replying as your reply doesn't make any sense either and let try to help this thread on track and help the user out.

Thank you.

Hi everybody !
I thank all those who tried to bring their assistant one way or another, and I am happy that we were able to find a solution!
I hope that it can benefit in the largest number, even if it must be paying (but not ruining!).
It's a pity that the work of vtverdohleb is not encouraged, he cannot only be one any more with regard to the competition, by bringing more services to our favorite NAS! I look forward to the new version of the addon ubooquity!
Best regards.

Only wish is to help out and get any and all information and resources to users so that they can come to a quick solution. Not here to discourage any help or information. Any and all information is helpful to users so that they can get any an all information on had to effect the outcome and get problems solved is all. All information should be put forth so users have all the tools to work with.  ;)

Good Luck.

Don't worry, there can't be a paid Ubooquity addon, the license of Ubooquity does not allow it.
So it will always be free as long as it exists.

Make Ubiquiti addon for DNS-320L/325/327L/340L/345. All users, including me, will thank you. And it is totally free.
The problem is that there are many nuances, because of which run on the NAS Ubooquity difficult and I spent many hours on what would figure it out. Ordinary users will not be able to do this requires advanced knowledge of Linux and specifically NAS D-Link.

True.

Make an addon that downloads Ubooquity during installation instead of redistributing it, and I won't have any objection.
My problem is with the redistribution of the binary.

As I said, I will not do anything. Ubooquity I do not use, I'm not interested.
Your decision will not dispute. But in its decision, you completely deprive users of D-Link NAS enjoyment Ubooquity.
Just build the package - this is not all, I have to deal with support. And I do not plan to volunteer at Ubooquity.
If someone else will compile the package and take up for further service, I'll just be grateful.

P.S. if the specialist will install and configure Linux, take the money for qualified work, this will not cause problems and objections. And my job for some reason should be free ... I do not understand this logic ... :(

Like I said, I have no problem with a paid addon as long as it downloads Ubooquity binary upon installation instead of embedding it.
