DSM-320RD cannot connect to Wifi with WPS-PSK encryption.
« on: October 31, 2009, 01:47:42 AM »

i have just installed a new Wifi router - and noticed that if I enable WPA-PSK encryption, the device cannot acquire an IP address from the router. If i switch WPA to WEP or disable security at all, then the media player connects ok.  Has anyone been able to resolve this, or am I pretty much SOL with trying to use better security for this device?

DSM-320RD does not support WPA.

My bad...I was referring to the DSM-320. Ok so WPA is supported. This device is a bit older and has not had any updates in quite a while I would try maybe a more simple passkey if you have any spaces or special characters maybe try just numbers and letters and/or the minimal passkey size required and test it.

yeah - that's pretty much what i tried.

wired connection: fine
set encryption to None: works fine
set encryption to WEP: works fine
Set encryption to WPA with a simple passcode "abcd1234" to make it easier to type it in, as the remote is a beast when it comes to entering the password: No luck.

Have you tried WPA TKIP and AES options if your router supports both?

yes. this is the new netgear wndr3700 - it does actually support wpa (TKIP), wpa2 (AES) and a dual WPA+WPA2 mode.  I tried WPA+WPA2 mode first, and then WPA by itself with the same result.

mind you, the WNDR3700 can be buggy too, as this is a brand new release - but i havent had any issues connecting other devices to it...
