FW update fail & "MissingFieldException
« on: August 08, 2016, 08:55:03 AM »

Attempted to update firmware from 2.0 to 2.4.  The update fails at the very end.  When I access the 322 from a browser and try to view Live Video or Playback, I get an error message "Missing Field Exception"

MissingFieldException[ The following required field is missing from the launch file: <jnlp>(<application-desc>|<applet-desc>|<installer-desc>|<component-desc>)]

I tried the FW from a different computer and had the same occur.  (The DNR shows the current FW to be 2.4 now.)

I have already check for current Java and browser installs.  The problem is the FW.  I would like to return to 2.0 firmware.

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?

What browser did you using to update the FW? We recommend using IE11 or FF. Disable any security browser add-ons and PC security software temporarily while doing the update. Clear browser caches before and after loading the FW file. I would try a manual re-load of the FW using the a fore mentioned steps to see if the problem is resolved or not. Be sure you are using a LAN wired PC connect with the DNR or via the main host router and the DNR is also LAN wired when doing FW updates. FW Update Process

This user reported a successful load of FW:

Have you cleared any Browser and Java history and reset the java console?
Also, can you add the IP address of the DNR into Java's security exceptions list?

What firefox version?

Is this seen in IE11 as well?

The live and playback videos are working.  Clearing the Java and browser caches solved the final issue.

(I am running Windows 7 and use Firefox.  IE11 was getting a similar error, but I actually never use it.)

Thank you for your help.  I have to say, this is the best (fastest) help I have received on this forum.  I am pretty sure you have been here for a number of years.  There have been times (on other parts of this forum) when I felt like it was dead silence after posting a question or problem.  I have many D-Link products (cameras, switches, routers, network recorder) and like being able to keep to one brand to reduce the possibility of conflicts between hardware and software.  You have restored my faith regarding the use of D-Link products.
