Title: Firmware 1.13NA Final for Rev. A1 Feedback and Comments!
Post by: user11 on January 25, 2010, 09:08:35 AM
That HNAP vulnerability is pretty scary, and is found in all firmwares prior, would suggest any and all hardware rev. A users to update. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10854.0

with this firmware I have random disconnects from the internet, not the router just the internet. The log shows nothing, but the router shows the Wan disconnected and then reconnects within a short amount of time.   Any suggestions?

Reset the unit to factory and set it up again. Do not load a config. See if that helps.

Installed this last night & everything seems to be running smooth...

Lycan, after installing the upgrade, all of my settings were still saved.  This surprised me as usually a firmware update always seems to reset everything, any thoughts?

I was surprised by that as well. I wasn't sure how this was possible. I requested information on why this isn't the norm, but I've yet to receive a response.

make sure you do a return to default setting then setup your router. If you don't you can have internet connections problems.

funny you say this as I have zero problems with my 825. Internet connections have been strong & I didn't reset.  Guess everyone's setup is different.

Well, I have downloaded the new Firmware version and reset to default .. but still I seem to have very short periods of no internet connection.  Somewhat less with the new version.  I mostly see this with Skype calls .. as 2 or 3 times a day a call will get dropped.  Didn't happen with my old linksys router.

Any other hints?

I am seeing this too.

I also notice that performance degrades first and then dies. Strangely though, I'll drop some connections on some ports first. Like the first thing to degrade go is general internet, then network connections to other PCs, and then Instant Messagers. At this point, i usually can not log in to the router to reset and have to go manually reset.

This used to happen about once a day with 1.12 but now seems to happen every few days maybe once a week.

Just to make sure I'm not crazy .. I just swapped out to a NetGear WNDR 3300 .. and NONE of those problems appear in the NetGear unit.

There is definitely something amiss with the DIR-825.

Bob,

If you check messages in the main folder you'll discover quite a few DIR-825 owners have chucked the D-Link in favor of the NetGear 3300 you switched from.  Go figure. ;)

I have 30 days to return the NetGear .. hoping for some miracle I guess.

My internet connection starts off great but then slows down and even the wireless is dieing down. I've never gone down below 4 bars, I'm at 2 bars at the moment and web pages take a little longer to load, I disabled the N band and went to the G band thinking it might help but it is still the same. At one point the routers GUI was crawling to load, I did a rest and was still taking its sweet time loading. I think a recall is in an order to solve this problem. Been dealing with this problematic router for a year now.

I have applied this firmware upgrade (1.13NA).  However, I am having intermittent disconnects for both wired and wireless workstations.  The router recovers itself; but the wireless connectivity is tremendously weak and slow.  Any ideas?

So far so good...

Upgraded to 1.13NA and internet is working fine.

I have a DAP-1522 in my bedroom on bridge mode manually set to 802.11n 5GHz mode, signal strength holding steady at 84% (which is normal for me).  Transfer says 243 Mbps, but I will have to test tomorrow (wife is asleep...shhh).

I have a PC and Xbox 360 connected to the DAP-1522, with the connection dropping occasionally.  I've had continuous problems when streaming HD video and live TV in Windows Media Center to the Xbox connected to the bridge, so I'm hoping this update might fix this problem since after the update i'm reaching up to 94% signal strength at times.  Will report back after testing tomorrow...

OK I am back and with good news! So finally after playing around with this router I downgraded back to 1.12NA because it was working better then the 1.13NA but as I did that the router was even worse off now, So then I remembered that the 1.13NA did not erase any of my settings. So I decided to give the 1.13NA another shot and I again upgraded back up to the 1.13NA and restored to factory default and for an extra precaution, I unplugged the power to the device and waited for about 10 seconds and plugged it back in and manually inserted all of my settings. So as of now this thing is running pretty damn good, for the exception that it freezes, I lose connection to the router for about a second or so, wired and wireless.

Connection Up Time :  4 Day 11 Hour 54 Min 48 Sec

I've upgraded to the official 1.13NA firmware as well and restored defaults to ensure things were working perfectly.  The only thing I've noticed is that I *might* be losing my internet connection for a split second randomly... I've only had it happen when playing PS3 online and I've lost my connection quite briefly.  No idea if it's just the online servers or anything to do with the router though.

1. We have version A1 of the router and after upgrading the original firmware to 1.13NA our WAN speed has decreased.  All the settings at factory default.  We have 15Mbps cable.  Is there a recommendation for settings to help with the WAN speed?  It is currently at Auto.

2. Wireless clients are no longer listed.  This was reported by others in the Forum.  Is there a solution for this?  We often used this feature in the previous firmware version.

All other functions of the router seem good.  We have used the new firmware for about two weeks and the longest time without reboot is six days.  We use all of the gigabit wired connections and we only use 2.4 GHz wireless and it is reliable.

Thanks,

I am at 20+ days with no Internet lockouts or device web page no connects. The only problem I still have is that none of my wireless devices appear on the Wireless Status Page.

Must be me. I'm 24-48 hours max. slows down and then locks up. I wish I could just schedule a reboot at 4am or something.

Basically, I use a digital lamp timer set to go on at 5am and off at 5am.  This blips the power momentarily causing a reboot every day at 5am.

If you use an analog lamp timer (the kind with the buttons you push in) then you're minimum off time will be either 10 or 15 minutes depending on the timer, so the digital works better.

Retail is about $20 bucks in a hardware store.
