I am using the D-Link DIR-655 in Israel, since there is no D-Link site in Israel, can someone tell me if I have to use the US firmware or the EU firmware and what is the difference between them.
I am experiencing slow Internet connections both wired and wireless.
Thanks

What does the router report it's connecton speed is?
-
Where can I find the Information. Can you please also answer me about the question I asked about the firmware version.
Thanks

Dlink US only supports the US version, we do not have or use the EU version, so we do not know the differences.

Hi !
I would think that you should use the EU versions...
Here is the EU 1.11 version - works fine for me....

Does anybody have any info on the new ver. 1.11EU regarding any issues, installation, restoring config or otherwise? ???

Loading the EU version of that code on a USA, will void your warranty.
We are, however, working on a 1.11 USA version, that should be posted soon.
I do not have an ETA for the code, but your router can inform you via email when the firmware is available.

I think this and other very important information should be static in the DIR-655 forum.
Information about:
- difference about EU and not EU (USA?!) firmware versions.
- Hardware versions and firmware versions. Any firmware should fit in any hardware version? There are versions of firmware that have A3 in the file name. Is this a Warning?!
- if it's possible or not to upgrade directly from a old firmware to a newest one.
- If anything goes wrong in the firmware update process, what to do? There are any recovery tool like other d-link routers have?
Some thing like a FAQ...
-
And Lycan should almost make an EU DIR-655 board to lessen the likelyhood of someone blowing up their router (figuratively, not litereally).

hello
a question, might sound silly, but how cna i check if i have a US or an EU version?
-
Where did you purchase the unit from?
-
If he bought it from his region, he is in Romania.
I believe that would mean he is using D-Link Europe product.
-
i think so too, but the reseller could have just shipped it from the US, if it's cheaper. after inspecting the bottom i saw that it says 655EEU.. in the serial number, so i assume it's EU.
so, i upgraded to the 1.11EU firmware...the fact that it didn't blow up makes me think it's EU.
-
creat0r79,You get a karma point for that.
All, Please check product sticker on unit for 655EEU to make sure the DIR-655 you have uses code from Europe.
-
thanks.
i did some checking to see what's new in the US and EU firmware (eu gives only the dhcp thing), and i saw that the EU firmware still has 802.11.d support in the options, any reason for that?
-
I guess that there are still some regions in Europe that require this feature by law. Seems quite logical, doesn't it?

I'd log into the router web config page (192.168.0.1) and see what firmware edition is listed. If it has x.xxUS then use US if it has x.xxEU then go with EU. Good luck
