Strange changes to my DAP-1522
« on: June 04, 2012, 01:33:40 PM »

I bought the DAP-1522 bridge, and set it up very easily to connect to my DIR-655 router via the sync button. My PC and printer were connected to DAP-1522, and with this setup, my PC could connect to Internet, and my printer could be accessed by all other laptops. Amongst My Network Places on the PC, I could see both 1522 and 655. Suddenly, the setup stopped working. On My Network Places, I see neither device. I reset all devices including PC several times, and the indicators light up like they always did [including the flashing orange], but there is no longer any connection between 1522 and 655. I researched this forum, and per advice, manually set the TCP/IP to 192.68.0.99 with default gateway to 192.168.0.50. If I do so, I do see the 1522 on the PC, but not the 655 [consequently no access to Internet, printer]? If I directly connect to 655 [after resetting TCP/IP to Auto Detect], I get the Internet, but cannot see 1522? So the Network card is not a problem. What suddenly went wrong when the indicators seem to indicate a connection between 1522 [running v1.21] and 655 [running v1.35NA]? How do I fix this?

Welcome!
What region are you located?

Some things to try: Host Router
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.

Region: CA, USA. Setup on 655 Router: Wireless Mode Mixed. Channel width 20Mhz. Security WPA Personal. I have laptops that are connecting to 655 wirelessly on N without problem. With the same setup, the 1522 was connecting too until a day ago. In fact, it is still flashing orange as if it still connected. But I don't know how to identify it on 655 - since both are DLink Products, the 1522 ought to have been easily identified by 655.

one thing you can test, turn off the WiFi radio on the 655 leaving the 1522 radio going and test. Run the 1522 in AP mode and see how it does.

Also make sure your using WPA2 and either try TPIK only or AES only or try Auto. The 1522 should pick up anyone of those settings.
