Which could also be due to this point I made about matching connection rates and all your devices being line.

Something D-Link will have to review.

I'll set up my extender which matches same rates as the 880L and see how it goes.

They actually don't make an AC1900 extender.  Only a 1750 or 2600 which were both beyond my price range.

Ok, I have an extender set up up stairs from my 880L. I have a few devices connected to it. It's about 30 feet from 880L thats down stairs.

ya..the DAP-1720 is the AC1750.  Oh well...doesnt matter as I dont have it.

Just had to reboot router again...no clients could connect. 

DD-WRT it is.

FYI, my 880L is still working with a extender. I came home today from all day class. No issues seen. All my devices still connected and all working. Been great. Even my 192 adapter is still ON and connected for my Windows 10 PC.

I flashed to DD-WRT and I could not be happier.  System is running flawless...over 30 wifi devices, not a single issue.  In fact, even my wireless signal has improved on my upper floors.  I am going to return the DAP-1620 as I have no need for it anymore. 

I cannot understand how the stock FW cannot be improved to be more functional.  Thank god for the open-source community.

Possible that your configuration and environment could be a cause of bad OEM FW behaviors. Glad WRT is working better.

My 880L as been stellar working and operation on OEM FW.
